"To find suitable persons for the Episcopal ministry and
aid them in acquiring a thorough education"

SIM's founding purpose on October 2, 1857;

 our ministry ever since.

Happy Birthday

Why should this day-October 2nd-be special to over 5100 priests, including almost 30% of current diocesan bishops?

*  Why - because on this day in 1857 eight visionaries met at Trinity College in Hartford, CT to form an organization focused on providing critical aid for growing the church.

* Why - because for the past 156 years these priests received over $6 million in SIM scholarships to assist in their education, formation and training to become Episcopal priests.

* Why - because through the Civil War erupting soon after its founding and through many severely challenging times - two world wars, banking crises, stock market crashes, a Great Depression, and others - SIM's ministry has endured.

* Why - because SIM's investments in the future ordained leaders are adapting to meet today's challenges for The Episcopal Church.

SIM's investments for the future continues to impact The Episcopal Church, its parishes and an immeasurable number of parishioners and their families. Perhaps SIM's visionary founders prayed like Jabez in I Chronicles 4:10 who cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory"? Indeed, with the help of many visionary supporters, SIM's territory has been greatly enlarged. We have "increased the ministry" and our ministry has been blessed. Yes, blessed indeed!

Be part of sustaining SIM's vision.  Give SIM a birthday present.

Thank you!

Faithfully,
