New Regional Distribution Facility for the George T. Sanders Company Under Constructionsanders

A Wheat Ridge-headquartered supplier of plumbing and heating products is building a new 76,000 square-foot distribution facility in the Marty Farms Industrial Center - south of E. 96th Avenue on E. 95th Place and Yosemite in Commerce City. The George T. Sanders Company will supply heating and plumbing products throughout Colorado and Wyoming from this new location. The company was founded in 1950 as a sheet metal and other materials supplier to heating contractors in Denver. It has since expanded into plumbing and currently is one of the largest suppliers of plumbing and heating supplies to mechanical and plumbing contractors in the state. The new facility will bring up to 30 full time employees over the next three years to the city. The new building is expected to be completed by early 2017.
SBA Regional Administrator Pays Visit to Commerce City CompanySBA

The U.S. Small Business Administration's (SBA) Region VIII Administrator, Betsy Markey, joined Mayor Sean Ford and city economic development division staff members on a tour of Asahi Food at 6830 E. 49th Avenue in Commerce City. As an experienced small business owner, Markey is touring businesses throughout the region to listen to their needs and promote SBA programs. She met with Mayor Ford and city staff members to illustrate how these SBA programs could be used to help existing Commerce City small businesses, like Asahi Food. Markey also wanted to connect Asahi Food with SBA staff to explore how SBA programs could assist with Asahi Food's expansion opportunities. The Asahi Food tour was led by the company's Assistant Operations Manager Chin Koh, and Paul Guan, owner. The group was treated to a tour of the "Fish Room," and watched a master fish cutter process a tuna for distribution to local sushi restaurants. Asahi Food started five years ago and imports fresh fish for sushi and sashimi to over 200 restaurants in Colorado and surrounding states. For more information about Asahi Food, click here.
Animal Hospital Opens in Northern Corridor animal

Pets R Us Animal Hospital is opening its second location at 10290 Idalia Street. The hospital owner, Manal Soliman, hosted a grand opening celebration on Saturday, July 2. Pets R Us is an experienced pet hospital offering a full array of pet services from immunization and wellness care to boarding and grooming, and is the only hospital of its kind within Commerce City. Advanced Industries Accelerator Grant Application Process Opensoedit

The Advanced Industries (AI) Accelerator Programs promote growth and sustainability in Colorado's seven advanced industries - advanced manufacturing, aerospace, bioscience, electronics, energy and natural resources, infrastructure engineering, and technology and information. These Accelerator Programs aim to drive innovation, increase access to early stage capital, and encourage public-private partnerships. The application period will be open until August 31 at 5 p.m. Commerce City companies in any of these seven industries can benefit from funding assistance with early stage capital or on infrastructure projects. Job Training Program Grants Available - Applications Due!school

Applications are due on July 15 for the fall round of applications for Colorado's job training program grants. Colorado's job training programs provide incentives to foster business growth and retention. These programs provide grants for companies that are locating or expanding in Colorado. The Colorado FIRST training program provides funds to new net hires for companies relocating or expanding in Colorado. The Existing Industry training program provides grants to existing Colorado companies with a customized job training program. Swank Salon, located at 15550 E. 103rd Place, #103, was nominated as one of the top five salons in Colorado in 2016 by the Southwest Hairstyling Awards. Miranda Vinyard, Owner, was also nominated as one of the top five Colorado Hairstylists of the Year for 2016.
