UPS Announces Another Facility ExpansionUPS
United Parcel Service (UPS) announced that its Commerce City hub beat out other UPS operations across the country for a $13.5 million capital investment that includes a 5,000 square-foot addition, new equipment and 20 additional full-time jobs.

At 2,700, UPS is the largest employer in Commerce City. The company operates more than 700,000 square feet of distribution space in the city. Ninety jobs were added in 2015 as well as an expansion of its CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) fueling station-making it one of the largest CNG fleet fueling facilities in Colorado.

UPS was recently named Business of the Year at the Commerce City Business Appreciation Awards breakfast.
Seven Commerce City Businesses Rise to the Top at Awards BreakfastAwards
Commerce City and the Commerce City Business & Professionals Association (CCBPA) honored seven local businesses at the eighth annual Commerce City Business Appreciation Awards breakfast on March 17. "This annual event is the city's opportunity to thank businesses for the important role they play in the success of the community," said Mayor Sean Ford.

The breakfast featured a keynote address from Ardent Mills Chief Executive Officer Dan Dye, who highlighted the firm's recent corporate relocation to metro Denver and the company's operations in Commerce City.

City council members and emcee Susie Wargin presented awards in the following categories:
  • Business on the Move Awards: A.R. Wilfley & Sons, Inc.; Commerce City Family Dentist; Denver Machine Shop; and Old Dominion Freight Line.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit Award: Stryker By Design, Inc.
  • Pam Downs Lilac Award for Leadership: Redd Iron, Inc.
  • Business of the Year Award: United Parcel Service
An awards selection committee, comprised of community business representatives, chose the winners from the nominations received. Commerce City thanks all businesses, individuals and organizations that have made contributions to the economic vitality of the city.
Construction Underway on New RTD Commuter Rail Stationrtd
Officials from Commerce City, Regional
Transportation District (RTD) and Regional Rail Partners gathered on March 31 for a groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of construction on the new commuter rail station at E. 72nd Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. The Commerce City station is one of eight planned stops along RTD's North Metro Rail Line, which is slated to begin service in 2018.Learn more about the city's Station Area Master Plan and the RTD North line.

Mail Xpress  Celebrates Grand Opening at Open House
Mail Xpress had its official Open House/Grand Opening on April 1 at 13611 E. 104th Ave., Ste. 800. The new operation is a full service shippi
ng, printing, and copying facility and drop-off site for delivery through the U.S. Postal Service. It also sells products from local vendors and offers office sharing services  and space.

Popeye's Coming to Commerce Citypopeyes
Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen is planning on opening a new restaurant in Commerce City. The 2,297 square-foot restaurant will be on the SW corner of E. 104th Avenue and Chambers Road in the Aspen Hills Development.
