The future is set for Commerce City

On October 3, two important positions were filled which will set the tone for the economic development of Commerce City.

  

James Hayes, Deputy City Manager 
James A. Hayes was selected as the city's new deputy city manager. Hayes works closely with the city manager to implement city council's goals. Hayes will oversees external services including public works, parks and recreation, community development and economic development. 

 

Walter Williams, Economic Development Manager

Economic Development Manager Walt WilliamsWalter Williams joins Jim Hayes's team as the economic development manager for Commerce City. Williams brings 18 years of experience in executive-level leadership, economic development, redevelopment, and real estate finance to the position.

City's efficient planning and review process lures developers 

Businesses looking to expand in the Denver Metro area opt to develop in Commerce City because of the ease, efficiency, and quality service for developers during the planning and review process.

 

A 10-day or less review time for building permits make it one of the fastest in the state. The new Taco Bell prototype restaurant is just one example of a growing list of businesses opting to expand in the city.

Grant funding fuels development plan 

Two large-scale projects in Commerce City are moving forward with strategic planning thanks to $170,000 in grant funding.

   

Mile High Grehound Park Redevelopment

The redevelopment continues with a market feasibility study to help understand the current and future market conditions and position the property for development.
 

Station Area Master Plan

The North Metro Corridor's first stop in Adams County is Commerce City's rail station located at 72nd Avenue and Colorado Boulevard.

Business leaders were honored for their achievements and community contributions during the fifth annual Business and Investor Appreciation event held at the Buffalo Run Golf Course on September 25.

Mayor Pro Tem Dominick Moreno presented four awards to businesses and individuals making a mark on Commerce City.
