March 2015

Artists are often not that verbal.  This month, Upstream artists both show and tell about what inspires them and how it plays out in their work.  Having had the singular privilege of working directly with each artist, I can say unequivocally that this has been a revelatory process.  We have all learned something about each other, what stimulates us and how these influences directly impact our work.  I have had the great pleasure of being able to "see" the relationship between what my colleagues do and how our individual encounters with other artists affect who we are as people and as creators.  This show has inspired all of us, and we very much hope that you will find it equally fascinating as viewers.

Meet the artists, have a nibble and experience an impromptu discussion of what we mean when we say "Influence" at our opening reception Sunday March 1st from 2-5 pm.

About Upstream: Since 1991 Upstream has been a unique community of arts professionals whose members work together cooperatively.  Artist members look to Upstream as a venue for experimentation, mutual support and artistic growth. In that spirit, we engage with other artists through a regular program of juried and invitational exhibits. The gallery embraces all fine arts media and all styles from realism to abstraction. Upstream is an established resource for new or experienced art collectors, as well as area curators, designers and art consultants.

The current artist members work in a variety of media including painting, sculpture, collage / assemblage, print-making and photography.  Styles range from the representational to the abstract.  Members have shown in a wide variety of venues throughout the United States and Europe. Upstream encourages artists to submit their work for review.  Submissions are reviewed on a monthly basis.
