November 2013

In December we are pleased to feature "Mostly Red", new and recent work from Dorothy Ehret Hines.  Her work is always a pleasure, exploring color, form and line with lightness and wry humor.

This year we will bring back our Holiday Group Show, an overview of what our artists are doing these days as well as an opportunity to find unique gifts for your special people.

Please join us to explore Dorothy's unique vision and celebrate the holidays at our opening reception Sunday, December 8th from 2-5pm.

Mostly Red

Ehret Hines' most recent work revolves around the most challenging and explosive of colors: red.  Her modestly sized, disciplined abstractions provide a glimpse into an interior world of lines, forms and color relationships.

Ehret Hines has always been intrigued by the endless varieties of colors, shapes, textures and lines, focusing on how patterns of light and dark interact with these elements.  She begins each work with an unstructured assembly, allowing each composition to find its own structure.

Upstream Button

Upstream Gallery was started in 1991 by a group of Westchester artists who were looking for a venue to show their work outside of traditional commercial galleries.

The gallery has two street level exhibition spaces.  The current artist members work in a variety of media including painting, sculpture, collage / assemblage, print-making and photography.  Styles range from the representational to the abstract.  Members have shown in a wide variety of venues throughout the United States and Europe. Upstream encourages artists to submit their work for review.  Submissions are reviewed on a monthly basis.
