Today in Christian History
On this day in 398, St. John Chrysostom, the greatest preacher of the early church, became bishop of Constantinople. So well-regarded was his preaching tat he earned the name Chrysostom: "golden-mouth". He was exiled in 403 for his outspoken criticism of his congregation, including Empress Eudoxia. After the church recalled him, he again offended Eudoxia, who exiled him again. He died three years later. |

LASchola Accompanying the Vigil Mass
On Saturday, 27 February at 5:00pm the LASchola will sing at the Latin Vigil Mass. A quartet of singers, all sopranos and altos, will accompany the Mass, and the music promises to be particularly ethereal and beautiful.
Repertoire includes Occuli Mei by Estêvão Lopes Morago (16/17th Century), Missa Inter Vestibulum by Francisco Guerrero (1528-1599), and Magnificat Quarti Toni by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (c 1525-1594).
Please join us for a deeply spiritual evening, followed by refreshments in the Parish Hall.
