On this day in 1438 in an attempt to forge an alliance that would save Constantinople from the Turks, the Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches met at the Council of Ferrara-Florence. A temporary union was reached, but Constantinople fell anyway in 1453, ending the Byzantine Empire.

Annual Parish Meeting

The Annual Parish Meeting will take place in the Large Parish Hall following the High Mass on Sunday, 17 January 2016. At this meeting, present, eligible Communicants in Good Standing will elect four new Vestry persons (Ray Beaty, Sal Hernandez, John V. Schleif, David A. Silvas) to serve a three-year term, and four delegates (Patricia Neal Jensen, Len Leatherwood, David Silvas, Joseph Warren) & two alternate delegates (Joan Henehan) to represent St. Thomas at the Annual Diocesan Convention. 

Canon 4.04
Effective 1 January 2016
The following shall be qualified Electors:
Any person sixteen years of age or over and attendant upon the services of the Parish, who for the previous twelve (12) months shall have been registered upon the Parish rolls as a baptized communicant in good standing* of that Parish. 
(Amended 11 February 1972, 4 December 1998, and 7 December 2014)

*A communicant in good standing is defined as someone who has (1) received Holy Communion at St. Thomas the Apostle Hollywood at least three times during the preceding twelve months and who has (2) given (financial and/or service) to St. Thomas the Apostle Hollywood during the preceding twelve months.

St. Thomas Concert Series

On Saturday, 23 January at 7:30pm, the stunning, acclaimed soprano, Christina Borgioli, comes to St. Thomas to offer an evening of sacred song. The varied repertoire on this program features music by Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Wolf, Strauss, Boulanger, and Rorem. Ms. Borgioli will be accompanied by the St. Thomas Memorial Organ, played by St. Thomas' Master of the Music, Jeffrey Parola. Free admission.
