St. Thomas the Apostle is an Episcopal Parish in the Anglo-Catholic tradition. We are called by God to be a holy place where love is found, where all are named and where hearts are freed to change the world.
St. Thomas has a great respect for both the rich liturgical heritage of the church and for living the message of social justice proclaimed by Jesus Christ. Whether you are young or old, gay or straight, single, married or in a relationship, female or male, poor or wealthy, you are welcome at St. Thomas just as you are...a child of God and an inheritor of God's grace. |

A Message from the Rector
Dear Parishioners,
Having just returned from Merthyr Tydfil (our family's home in Wales) I am jotting down a quick message to express the gratitude of my parents, John and Janis, my brother Richard and his partner Janice O'Neill and myself for the utterly tremendous outpouring of support, love and graciousness from all of you at this painful time. My parents are heart-broken, as you might well imagine, and want you ALL to know that they regard St Thomas the Apostle, Hollywood as part of OUR world-wide family- each of you have been a blessing to us and your condolences and expressions of love have been an immense comfort. My Mum and Dad will be here from the beginning of February, 2015. Thank you for your patience as I return to work and begin to catch up with all of you. Thank you for your friendship- ALL of you!
I would like to mention, in particular, thanks to Ms Julie Heimark, Mr Chris Wagner, Mr John Bollard, the Clerk, Treasurer and Vestry, Mr Joseph Warren, Mr Michael Ensign, Mr Ray Beaty, Ms Len Leatherwood, Mr Eddie Garcia, Mr Paul Tournay and Mr Lee Cox- as well as our Clergy team who have all been emotionally and practically involved.
Rest eternal grant unto Jason, O Lord, and let light + perpetual shine upon him.
With my love and prayers, always, Canon Ian Elliott Davies

Parishioner Projects
If you've attended a daily Mass or a daily Office in the last few months, you may have noticed wood clamps on some of the pews in the Church. These clamps are evidence of the ongoing pew restoration project undertaken by parishioner, Michael Williamson. Through this project, Michael - a very fine wood craftsman - will be repairing all of the pews in the Church! While the 1930's pews are of very high quality, more than 80 years of wear and tear has taken its toll. After observing these problems, Michael agreed to take on this massive project as a personal gift to the Parish from him, and his wife Shelley.
Between the 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 Masses on Sundays, you may also have noticed two parishioners quietly working on the stage in the Large Parish Hall with boxes of documents. Like Michael and the pew restoration project, parishioners, Stan Shipley (an architect) and Laura Stalker (the Associate Director of the Huntington Library) saw that St. Thomas desperately needed to organize its many historic documents and photographs so they can be preserved for future generations. Thereafter, Stan and Laura embarked on the document preservation project as a gift to St. Thomas.
During this stewardship season, these are just two examples of the incredible generosity of our parishioners. Please join Fr. Davies and the Vestry and Wardens of St. Thomas in thanking Michael, Shelly, Stan, and Laura for their wonderful gifts to our beloved Parish.

On This Day in
Christian History
On this day in 108 according to tradition, St. Ignatius, Bishop of Antioch, was martyred. The Apostolic Father closest in thought to the New Testament writers, St. Ignatius wrote seven letters under armed guard on his way to Rome - some asking that the church not interfere with his "true sacrifice."
