St. Thomas the Apostle is an Episcopal Parish in the Anglo-Catholic tradition. We are called by God to be a holy place where love is found, where all are named and where hearts are freed to change the world.
St. Thomas has a great respect for both the rich liturgical heritage of the church and for living the message of social justice proclaimed by Jesus Christ. Whether you are young or old, gay or straight, single, married or in a relationship, female or male, poor or wealthy, you are welcome at St. Thomas just as you are...a child of God and an inheritor of God's grace. |

Capital Campaign
Pledges Exceed $400,000!
The spirit of generosity is thriving at St. Thomas! In the last two weeks, we've received some awesomely generous pledges. Parishioners are stepping up with large and small commitments that are fueling an exciting momentum. We truly are Claiming our Heritage and Building our Future.
Last week, we updated you on Weston Harris's masterful organ renovation and completion project. Another critical project being funded by the Capital Campaign is the repair and stabilization of our stained glass windows.
If you've not already pledged, your commitment is important. Please contact the church office and we'll arrange for a capital campaign volunteer to contact you. All of us need to pledge generously from the resources God has given us.
a Capital Campaign pledge card.
In 2013, the Vestry of St. Thomas commissioned a professional Feasibility Study to obtain input from the Parish regarding several potential capital projects, and to provide a recommendation regarding a possible Capital Campaign. One of the projects studied was the repair and stabilization of the stained glass windows in the Church. As depicted in the historical photographs below, these windows were installed when the present Church was built in 1930.
However, age, sun, and weather have not been kind to the stained glass windows at St. Thomas. After more than 80 years, they are in desperate need of repair and stabilization.
 | Window leading that is falling apart |
 | Stained glass window that is dangerously beginning to warp |
The importance of repairing and stabilizing the stained glass windows was made abundantly clear during the Feasibility Study. Those parishioners who participated in the study confirmed that the Parish strongly supports embarking on a Windows Project to repair and stabilize our historic stained glass windows. Therefore, when the Vestry voted to move forward with the Capital Campaign in the Fall of 2013, the Windows Project was identified as a top priority for the Campaign.
St. Thomas has obtained a bid from Glass Horizons (www.glasshorizons.com) to repair and stabilize all of the stained glass windows at St. Thomas for $65,875.00. Should Glass Horizons be ultimately selected as the contractor for the Windows Project, the anticipated work would take place on site (with scaffolding or a scissor lift) and would include repairing, resoldering, reputtying, reglazing, and waterproofing all the stained glass windows in the Church, as needed. The cost of the Windows Project will undoubtedly increase by the time the Parish raises the required funds through the Capital Campaign. Still, the Vestry is committed to ensuring that the work that is eventually performed in connection with the Windows Project is top notch and that the project proceeds in an efficient and economically responsible manner.
One way parishioners can participate in the Capital Campaign is to sponsor one of the stained glass windows at St. Thomas as a memorial or dedication to family members, friends, or to a departed loved one. Paid over five years, the suggested $5,000 donation to sponsor a stained glass window is only about $83 per month. If two parishioners combine to sponsor a window, the cost is only about $42 per month. Regardless of the project that speaks to you, we hope and pray that you will join the dozens of other parishioners who have already pledged to support the St. Thomas Capital Campaign - Claiming Our Heritage/Building Our Future.
