St. Thomas the Apostle is an Episcopal Parish in the Anglo-Catholic tradition.  We are called by God to be a holy place where love is found, where all are named and where hearts are freed to change the world.

St. Thomas has a great respect for both the rich liturgical heritage of the church and for living the message of social justice proclaimed by Jesus Christ. Whether you are young or old, gay or straight, single, married or in a relationship, female or male, poor or wealthy, you are welcome at St. Thomas just as you are...a child of God and an inheritor of God's grace.

Catechism Class Forming

Interested in becoming a member of St. Thomas, or in reinvigorating your knowledge of our faith and worship? It's time to start thinking about joining this year's Catechumen Class. This course, which meets every Saturday beginning 14 September and running right up to the Great Easter Vigil, is required for anyone who wishes to be Baptized, Confirmed, or Received into the Parish Church. It's also open to current Parishioners who are interested in learning more and Reaffirming their commitment to Christ.

Interested parties should contact the Parish Office to schedule a meeting.

When meeting with Fr. Davies, interested parties are asked to fill-in THIS QUESTIONNAIRE. Clicking on the link and bringing in a pre-answered questionnaire would be helpful but not required.
Acolyte Refresher Classes

Refresher classes conducted by Efrain Cisneros and Reece Thomson for ALL Acolytes, M/Cs, LEMs and Sub Deacons are being held on Saturdays, 14 & 28 September following the 10am Low Mass. All acolytes are required to attend one of those Saturdays. Please reply to Reece (reecepthomson@icloud.com) no later than 7 September 2013 and confirm which Saturday you will be attending.
Update on Organ Project

Earlier this week, the contractor retained by St. Thomas began work two of three projects that will take place during the next 60 to 75 days. First, our Organ Builder, Weston Harris, with assistance from our contractor removed a massive blower from the west organ loft so that the blower can be rebuilt. With the blower removed, our contractor and Mr. Harris will also have an opportunity to conduct a detailed inspection of the west loft and, if need be, perform repairs. This work is part of the multi-year Organ Renovation Project.

Our contractor has also begun preparing and painting the back exterior wall of the church, as well as the exterior transepts. This work is not part of the Organ Project. Rather, it is an effort to maintain and beautify our church building and is being funded entirely by a gift from an anonymous donor. We expect this work to be completed in the next few days.

Once the work in the west organ loft and on the exterior of the church is completed, our contractor will move to the interior of the church to perform extensive cleaning, as well as interior repair and painting. This work will take 6 to 8 weeks to complete and is also included as part of the Organ Renovation Project. While you will see signs of this interior work, our contractor and Mr. Harris will make every effort to limit any interference with church services and activities.

We are very pleased and excited to be moving forward with this work as we close out the summer. If you have any questions about these projects, please see the People's Warden, Ken Koonce, or the liaison to the Organ Renovation Project, our former Rector's Warden, Randy Oglesby.

Parish Choir

We thank the Parish Choir for a wonderful year of service culminating with the very successful "Family Follies," the proceeds of which benefit the Choir's annual retreat in September.

The choir is now on a much-deserved, two-month hiatus.

We look forward to September when the choir returns to the High Mass.
On This Day in
Christian History

On this day in 1856 the Methodist Episcopal Church founded Wilberforce College in western Ohio. It was the second American institution of higher learning established for black students (Ashmun Institute in Pennsylvania, founded two years earlier, was the first).
