Greetings!

St. Thomas the Apostle is an Episcopal Parish in the Anglo-Catholic tradition.  We are called by God to be a holy place where love is found, where all are named and where hearts are freed to change the world.

St. Thomas has a great respect for both the rich liturgical heritage of the church and for living the message of social justice proclaimed by Jesus Christ. Whether you are young or old, gay or straight, single, married or in a relationship, female or male, poor or wealthy, you are welcome at St. Thomas just as you are...a child of God and an inheritor of God's grace.

LA Marathon This Sunday!

This Sunday, the LA Marathon will occur bringing its usual havoc to drivers. From 4am to 1pm the following streets around St. Thomas will be closed:
  • Hollywood Blvd. between Edgemont & La Brea
  • La Brea Ave. between Hollywood & Sunset
  • Sunset Blvd. between La Brea & San Vicente
For those wishing to make it to St. Thomas, we suggest taking the 101 Freeway to Highland. Turn right on Franklin. Continue to Gardner St. and turn left.

For all other Parishioners wishing to make their Sunday obligation, we encourage you to attend the Saturday Latin Vigil Mass at 5pm.

On This Day in
Christian History

On this day in 1517, needing money to rebuild St. Peter's basilica, Pope Leo X announced a special sale of indulgences. A Dominican named Johann Tetzel led the way in promoting the sale in Germany and erroneously declared that indulgences would cover future sins (Leo's forgave all past sins only). The teaching angered monk Martin Luther, who soon posted his 95 Theses in response.
