Greetings!

St. Thomas the Apostle is an Episcopal Parish in the Anglo-Catholic tradition.  We are called by God to be a holy place where love is found, where all are named and where hearts are freed to change the world.

St. Thomas has a great respect for both the rich liturgical heritage of the church and for living the message of social justice proclaimed by Jesus Christ. Whether you are young or old, gay or straight, single, married or in a relationship, female or male, poor or wealthy, you are welcome at St. Thomas just as you are...a child of God and an inheritor of God's grace.

Now About That Fr. Davies...

In 2002, Fr. Davies arrived on the shores of this country with only the clothes on his back and a dream... Well, actually, he arrived at LAX direct from Heathrow after watching three movies, including one of his all time favorites: My Big Fat Greek Wedding. The point is that, after living in the U.S. for eleven years and becoming the fourth-longest serving Rector in St. Thomas' history, Fr. Davies has decided to make his relationship with our country permanent. On January 9th, our Rector met with attorneys from the law firm of Jacobson & Han to begin the process of becoming a citizen of the United States. Since Fr. Davies has had his Green Card for more than five years, the citizenship process will likely take between six months and one year. Congratulations, Fr. Davies!

The Vestry and Wardens of St. Thomas are also extremely grateful to Nikki Jacobson and Jenna Gilbert of Jacobson & Han who have agreed to guide Fr. Davies through the citizenship process pro bono (free of charge). Jacobson & Han is a downtown-based law firm that specializes in immigration law and workers' compensation law. http://www.jacobsonhan.com. Thank you, Nikki and Jenna!

ralphs

We wish to thank the 26 households who shopped at Ralph's between 1 September and 30 November last year and registered their rewards card to support St. Thomas (due to new privacy policies, Ralph's no longer releases the names of those who have supported the Parish).

This quarter's contribution of $115.12 makes the total contributed by Ralph's since October 2007 to be $3,687.57!

Every time these Parishioners use their Ralph's card during checkout, the company contributes a percentage to the church (NOTE: You must use a physical card; entering your phone number at checkout does NOT benefit the Parish). If you shop at Ralph's and would like to help the church at no cost to you, simply register your card in five easy steps:

1. Go to www.ralphs.com

2. Click on "My Account"

3. Click on "Community Rewards"

4. Search for "84981"

On This Day in
Christian History

On this day in 1562, the Counter-Reformation Council of Trent reconvened after a 10-year break caused by a revolt of Protestant princes against Emperor Charles V. During the break, all hope of reconciliation between Catholics and Protestants had vanished.
