Island Egg Scramble Eggstravaganza
Fri. - Sun., Mar. 29 - 31
Friday night teens kick off the weekend at 9 PM with the 15th Annual Flashlight Egg Hunt at the Teen Center. On Saturday starting at 10 AM, kids ages 1-12 can chalk the sidewalk, pet bunnies in the 4H area, get their photo taken with the Big Bunny, and at 11 AM SHARP scramble for treats. Later at 1 PM kids 3-11 can do the Wet & Wild Scramble at the Aquatic Center. If you don't like crowds, bring your GPS and try the self-guided Geo-Hunt on Saturday & Sunday. Travelogue: Gorilla Trekking in the "Other" Congo Wed., Mar. 20, 7:30 PM
Learn how to best access the pristine areas of the lesser known of the two Congos, at a time when sustainable tourism is in the foreground. An overview of what has been voted by Outside Magazine as the "Best New Safari" will be presented by Erica Varga who in the 1990s led people from around the globe on overland safaris across Botswana and into Zimbabwe. "The Sky Is Falling!" The February 15th meteor that exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia showcased the impact of a small space rock. Astronomer Dave Fong will discuss the explosive energies of recent meteors, their origins, meteorite fragments, and how to protect against future threats. Comet PANSTARRS is approaching the Sun and growing brighter by the day. It is expected to become visible by early March - learn how to best view it.
