1-800-580-7247 ext. 219) by August 1.

Silver Award On June 13, 2013, Girl Scouts Shannon R. and Nimbe V. held a dedication of their Peace Garden in the Live Oak community as a part of their Girl Scout Silver Award project. Created at the Xeriscape Gardens at the intersection of Judson and Topperwein, the area is a wonderful place to relax, reflect and think. Get more information about their Silver Award project here!

Alyssa Salinas Senior Girl Scout Competes at
Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant

Alyssa S., a member of Troop 1097 in the Bush-Lopez Service Unit and a student at Reagan High School, competed at the Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant in early July. She won the Teen Alpha/Overall Community Service Scholarship with her 200+ hours of community service. Alyssa said, "I knew all those hours that I worked at summer camp, doing service unit things and helping at the council office would pay off! My Mom was right!!"

Alyssa used used her Gold Award project, Music to My Ears -- Empowering Girls through Music and S.T.E.M., as her platform issue. The judges were impressed that she's only 15 years old and had no problems tackling big projects like her Gold Award and no problems speaking in public.

And YES ... she really wants world peace! Congratulations, Alyssa!
