Camp does a girl good!

Camp does a girl good

The camp setting is a small community unlike any other. The unfamiliar setting, new people and shortened time together help girls make friends and bond. As a girl makes choices and directs projects, her leadership instincts progress. She learns to get along with others and becomes self-reliant without parents there to save the day. Ready to let her find her way? GSSWT offers a variety of flexible options to get her there! (Scholarships available!)

Have you experienced exceptional service from a GSSWT staff member?

If so, we encourage you to nominate her/him for a Recognizing Excellence staff award. Created in 2010, this award program recognizes staff members who go above and beyond and consists of six categories: customer service, teamwork, commitment, leadership, flexibility and creativity and innovation. Nominate a staff member now -- for awards presented early August, nominations are due Friday, June 28.

Is your troop working on Girl Scout Bronze or Silver award projects?

Have the girls in your Girl Scout Junior or Cadette troop completed a journey? Are they ready to embark on their Bronze or Silver Award? Both awards are a meaningful and wonderful experience for the girls and the adults who work with them.

The new staff liaison, Courtney Cunningham (210-349-2404/1-800-580-7247 ext. 221), can answer any questions you have about the process or paperwork involved.

Girl Scouts Do Great Things!

Troop 465 beautifies two school campuses!

Troop 465 Girl Scout Troop 465 recently planted a beautiful Crepe Myrtle tree on the campuses of Lopez Middle School and Buckner Fanning. Gracie from Buckner Fanning, and Abrianna, Andrea, Melissa, Megan, Cera, Gabrielle and Sarah from Lopez all helped with the effort. They just finished their Breathe Journey, which taught them about the environment and how to improve it. They chose the Crepe Myrtle tree because of its beautiful colors and it lives well in the Texas environment. The girls held fundraisers to aid in buying the trees and other supplies needed. "When we heal the earth, we heal ourselves." -- David Orr

Nice job, Troop 465!
