There's a leader in every girl! |
|
The camp setting is a small community unlike any other. The unfamiliar setting, new people and shortened time together help girls make friends and bond. As a girl make choices and direct projects, her leadership instincts progress. She learns to get along with others and becomes self-reliant without parents there to save the day. Ready to let her find her way?! GSSWT offers a variety of flexible options to get her there! (Scholarships available!)

Girl Scouts Do Great Things! |

Troop 592 & the Doggie Olympics
Twenty-three dogs competed in what was possibly San Antonio's first ever Doggie Olympics. Girl Scout Junior Troop 592 held this fun event to collect stuffed animals for the San Antonio Fire Department to give to children who need comfort. Dogs of all shapes and sizes competed in a Doggie Fashion Show, the Rip Van Winkle Sleep-off, a Ball Lottery, Peanut Butter Lick, Red Light, Green Light and Temptation Tower.
This project was the culmination of the troop's work on the Agent of Change Journey and the first step toward earning their Girl Scout Bronze Award. The nine fourth graders planned the event, set up the rules for the judges, led promotion, secured goodie bag donations, found a great location (Bob Beard Elementary), designed and painted a photo backdrop and emceed and ran the event from start to finish. Afterwards, the troop delivered a box-full of new stuffed animals to the grateful fire fighters at Station 34. Way to go, Troop 592!
Troop 2116 & Ergo Crayons
Girl Scout Troop 2116 decided to lend a helping hand to Thousand Oaks Elementary School's Amy Rose and her specialized support class. The troop collected broken crayons from the children at at the campus and after peeling off the paper the girls put the crayons in several different molds.

The filled molds were put in the oven to melt the crayons and were popped out of the mold to dry. The troop then gave Rose's specialized support class a decorated box full of crayons. The students in Roses's class are able to easily grasp and color with these chunky and ergonomic crayons. Nice job, Troop 2116!
