Camp it Up! Coming Up

Whooo loves to camp? Camp is a place where a girl can make new friends, explore the world around her and learn that "I can" is much more powerful than "I can't." It's a place where transformation happens. In an environment created just for her, a girl learns real life skills, develops self-esteem and gains a sense of independence and community. Camp gives girls the chance to let their curiosity run free and spark their imagination! Ready to send your girl?!

GSSWT offers a variety of flexible options to get her there! Check out these sessions coming up soon:

  • Cupcake Cuties @ Camp La Jita Resident Camp in Utopia,
For girls entering grades 2-3, a creative session where girls will whip up some fun! (Note: transportation available Friday afternoon to transport campers and their gear from Camp La Jita to the Sally Cheever Girl Scout Leadership Center at an additional $20/girl)

Girl Scouts Do Great Things!
Books for the littlest residents Books for the littlest residents
Local Girl Scout Alyssa Snow, as part of her Silver Award project, took on the daunting task of furnishing and decorating a Baby Cottage Library for the littlest residents of Boysville. The inspiring results of her efforts are visible in a photo that appears on the rotating book page banner at sareads.org, taken during the Grand Opening on April 20. SAReads was honored to partner with Alyssa by providing a portion of the Baby Cottage's new books. In addition, Alyssa collaborated with Born to Read, the San Antonio Public Library and Youth Service America to provide reading bags to infants and toddlers when they are placed with a foster family. Congratulations to Alyssa for her tenacity and determination to help the tiniest residents of our city!

Painting their way Painting their way

Troop 3179 from the Connally/Stevenson Service Unit painted their way to the Bronze Award. The Junior Girl Scouts designed and painted sports-themed murals on the walls of their neighborhood recreation center. The girls completed the "extreme bathroom makeover" after many Sunday afternoons of painting. Thanks, Troop 3179!
