Holiday Closed Dates

Please note that all GSSWT offices will be closed Monday, December 24, 2012 through Tuesday, January 1, 2013, reopening at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 for the winter holidays. We wish you and yours a blessed and joyous holiday season!

 

All offices will also be closed the following dates:

  • Wednesday, January 9 -- Staff Development Meeting
  • Monday, January 21 -- Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday

Join the party at SeaWorld San Antonio and kick off the Girl Scout Cookie Program with a wave of fun!

SeaWorld San Antonio

Open to all Girl Scout families and friends! What a great way to kick-off the 2013 cookie season! Join GSSWT and all of your Girl Scout and SeaWorld friends for splashes of fun at the annual cookie rally. Start with an interactive tailgate party filled with music, new activities, games and so much more. Later, jump into a park excursion with shows, rides, games and a whale of a good time (the park will not be open for full use). As a Take Action project, please bring donations for the San Antonio Food Bank -- visit safoodbank.org for the most wanted items. 


Fee:

  • $15/person ages 2+ (includes tailgate party activities, patches, snack, and entrance into SeaWorld)
  • Optional Meal Package -- additional $13/person for all-you-can-eat grilled hamburgers and hot dogs (includes chips, cookie and drink) **Optional meal package must be purchased prior to event; will NOT be available for purchase day of; only those with a ticket will be allowed to enter, this includes parents/guardians of girls; no ticket equals no entry to food area**

Registration Deadlines:

  • Cookie Rally only (no meal tickets) -- January 16
  • Cookie Rally and purchasing meal tickets -- January 9

Girls Rock Tour 2013

Girl Scouts are ready to rock and roll with the second annual Girls Rock Tour! Have you always wanted to showcase your dance moves or sing your heart out for all to hear? If yes, Girls Rock is perfect for you! Show us your musical talent that pops for a chance to perform at the 2013 SeaWorld San Antonio Cookie Rally. This is your moment to shine! Open to all registered Girl Scouts. Submissions (get your submission packet here) are due no later than Friday, December 21. Questions? Contact Amber Philpot.

Help Broadway Bank Stuff the Sleigh

Stuff the Sleigh For every 'Like' the Broadway Bank Facebook page receives until December 21, they'll donate $1 to five local charities, including Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas!


Please share the news with your friends and fellow Girl Scouts, and be sure to like Broadway Bank! They help make it possible for girls in our region to have the best possible Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas could earn up to $5,000!

 

Girls in Motion to perform
at San Antonio Spurs Game

Friday, December 28

Open to all Girl Scouts and families
Watch GSSWT's dance team, Girls In Motion, perform at the San Antonio Spurs game before the game starts at 7:30 p.m. Girls in Motion performs at 6:30 p.m. Purchase your game tickets at any TicketMaster or contact Nancy Gonzales (210-444-5682) for group sales. Tickets are as low as $15/person, which includes a bag of chips, small drink and a hotdog. 

Cookie Warehouse Update

2013 cookie program Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas is excited to announce that it partner with a new delivery agent for the 2013 cookie program! Ward North American (17275 Green Mountain Road, San Antonio, 78247) will now help us with our initial delivery and reorder sites during the month of February.

 

We are no longer working with Armstrong Moving and Storage on Walzem Road. Please note this change to ensure you do not visit the wrong location during cookie season!

Calling All Girl Scouts:
The White House Equal Futures App Challenge

Do you know any Girl Scouts who use apps on their smartphones, tablet computers or other mobile devices? If you do, the White House has a fun and educational challenge for them! The Equal Futures App Challenge asks girls to create an app that promotes civic education and/or inspires other girls to serve as leaders in our democracy. Get all the details hereSubmissions are due January 12!

Girl Scouts Do Great Things!

For National Public Lands Day, local Girl Scouts and the Friends of Olmos Basin Park participated in creek and litter clean-up. Additionally, they made presentations to volunteers about the park's history and the importance of bats to the environment. Thank you Girl Scouts! See pictures here!

Wurzbach Parkway Progress

Keep an eye out for heavy equipment transportation in our area as construction on the Wurzbach Parkway extension continues to progress.

 

Construction on Wurzbach Parkway is scheduled for completion in 2015.
