With a contribution of $50,000 from the Valero Benefit for Children Golf Classic, Valero Energy Foundation has been named the most recent sponsor of Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas' Mobile Leadership Center.

Valero Retail Division President Gary Arthur pumped fuel into the Mobile Leadership Center on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the Valero Corner Store located at IH-10 and UTSA Boulevard to kick off the official announcement of the partnership.

"Valero is proud to sponsor the Mobile Leadership Center as it travels to deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in rural areas," Arthur said. "With the numerous Valero locations throughout the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas jurisdiction, it is important for Girl Scouts to know we are behind them every step of the way."

The state-of-the-art Mobile Leadership Center, a 38-foot specialty vehicle, includes a library of resources and equipment for adult volunteers, a mini-Girl Scout Shop and 24 laptop computers for adult learning and girl activities. This year, the Mobile Leadership Center logged 850 hours traveling to nearly every county in the council's 21-county region, which covers more than 25,000 square miles.

Girl Scout volunteers in the rural communities are thrilled to hear of Valero's sponsorship. Terri Contreras, an administrative volunteer in Maverick County, writes "Thank you Valero Energy! The

Mobile Leadership Center means a lot to us in Eagle Pass!" after seeing the announcement on GSSWT's Facebook page.

On behalf of GSSWT's 23,500 girls and 7,000 adult volunteers, thank you for your generous support.
