The Service Unit Team Position make up day for the Service Unit Director, Service Unit Administrative Assistant, Service Unit Adult Learning & Recognition Coordinator and the Service Unit Membership Coordinator team positions will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m., tomorrow, Saturday, October 20 at the Sally Cheever Girl Scout Leadership Center (811 N. Volunteers needed tomorrow for music festival |

Volunteers are needed to help with taking tickets at the door, for posters and selling refreshments. You'll receive free admission, free parking and a free T-shirt -- not to mention a great day surrounded by beautiful music!Details
SAGE Music Festival -- Saturday, October 20
Choose from these three shifts--
- Shift 1: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Shift 2: 1-5 p.m.
- Shift 3: 5-10 p.m.
Location: Wheatley Heights Sports Complex ( 1023 Upland Road, San Antonio, 78220, near Martin Luther King and Interstate 10) About The SAGE Music Festival: The SAGE Music Festival benefits San Antonio for Growth on the Eastside (SAGE), a non-profit organization serving as an economic development resource for current business owners and potential new businesses, supporting revitalization of the Eastside community.

Let's Beat Cancer! |

What are your plans for Monday evening? Join the Methodist Healthcare system in the fight to end breast cancer. Girl Scouts and their families are invited to attend the Beat Cancer Lighting Ceremony at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital (1310 McCullough, San Antonio, 78212, directly across from Metropolitan Methodist Hospital) from 6-7:30 p.m., Monday, October 22. Free and open to the public.
This inspiring event will feature:
- Information on breast cancer awareness and prevention
- Pink lemonade
- Pink ribbon cookies
- Entertainment
- Words of encouragement from breast cancer survivors
- Opportunity for Girl Scouts to create get well soon cards for breast cancer patients
The event finale will be the lighting of Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in beautiful pink lights. The hospital will be pink for one week, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Facebook is the largest social network site in the world and its growth seems unstoppable. It has many advantages, but online safety is always a concern. Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas will hold two classes specifically designed for teens ages 12+ and their parents.
We will have in-depth discussions on:
- The multiple benefits of using Facebook
- How parents can remain involved without being intrusive
- Appropriate content and online etiquette
- Profile and privacy settings

POWERHOUSE Self-Defense Workshop |

This workshop will teach you to be aware of your surroundings and includes learning techniques to use your core strength to defend yourself. Light refreshments will be served during the Q&A session. Cheer Mile Volunteers Needed! |

Need community service hours or just want to do something good? The local Susan G. Komen Foundation Rock 'n' Roll Marathon (scheduled for Sunday, November 11) is in need of volunteers for the Cheer Mile!
Come wearing pink and bring noise makers, voices and signs to boost participants' spirits during the run, from 5:30-10 a.m.
Light refreshments will be served. The first 150 volunteers to sign-up will receive a FREE Cheer Mile T-shirt and a pink Komen San Antonio noisemaker.

All teen Girl Scouts, ages 14-18, are encouraged to apply to serve as ex officio girl board members to GSSWT's Board of Directors. Applications are due Tuesday, November 27.
Each of the five regional areas will select two teen Girl Scouts to serve on the board -- an excellent opportunity for girls to become involved at the council level and experience the democratic process first hand. See the timeline and get the application here.
