This Sunday - Aug 23 'Can Can Canucopia'
Kick up your heels, and help to feed the families of Mama Hill's Help by collecting canned food... Most wanted - cans that can be easily heated, or eaten right out of the can. Tab-tops are perfect. No pumpkin or pumpkin pie filling please. Mama Hill's Help is closed until mid-August, but food is always needed. Help make possible a meal for a day or two for a needy family or individual...it takes so very little for each of us to make a significant impact on those less fortunate. Join us in celebrating our ability to do what we can...can...can!

Also This Sunday Speaker from Ten Thousand Villages
A non-profit store called Ten Thousand Villages is now in the Redondo Beach Riviera Village. They are a fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the globe. Artisans receive a fair price for their work, and consumers have access to distinctive handcrafted items. They seek to establish long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans are under- or unemployed, and in which they lack other opportunities for income. Find out more...

Choir Seeks New Singers!
Our choir will sadly be losing several members this year due to retirement and moves. Now is a great time to join in the fun! Rehearsals begin Thursday, September 9, 7:15-9:00pm. No audition. A love of singing and a willingness to be reliable are the only requirements. Music reading helps, but we also are learning together, so your skills will get better. Come be part of this fun group! Contact: Email Jeannie Cobb or leave a phone message 310 375-4617 ext 228.

Handbells!
Have you ever wanted to learn to play the Handbells? On Sunday, September 13 the choir will sing an anthem that needs several Handbell ringers to help--now's a great time to learn! Let Jeannie Cobb know you're interested and we will figure when we can get together prior to the 13th to learn the part. Music reading is helpful, but we'll teach you what you need to know. Email or call Jeannie - 310 375-4617 ext 228.

Rusty Voice? Need A Tune-Up?
Free Voice Workshops Saturday August 29, 1-3pm & Tuesday September 8, 6:30-8:30pmLed by Jeannie Cobb Our voices are muscles. They get weak when they aren't used, but they can get stronger with exercise! As we age our voices change, and if we use our voices constantly at work they can get 'out of balance.' But help is here! Attend one or both workshops to help beginners understand healthy vocal production, and to help anyone who feels out of shape know how to get back to vocal health. Some lecturing, but mostly experiencing. All are welcome! All ages, all genders, all levels of experience. Let this be the year that you lift your song with special joy! Let Jeannie know you're coming by email Jeannie Cobb or leave a phone message 310 375-4617 ext 228.

Need a prayer, or to talk with the clergy?
or via the church office on 310-375 4617.
You are not interrupting our work -
you ARE our work!
Or just come to any or all of our services, and take a moment to sit quietly, light a candle in memory, or to symbolize your feeling, and let God be God - in you - for a few small, still moments. With blessings and prayers for comfort and love.

Clergy Transition Process
The St. Francis Vestry is very pleased to announce that Bishop Bruno has named Mother Paula as our Priest in Charge Under Special Circumstances (PIC-USC) effective April 1st! This decision initiates a formal mutual discernment period of 12 months to call Mother Paula as our Rector. As always, feel free to contact our Senior Warden Fabrizio, or any Vestry member if you have any questions regarding the Rector transition process. Any Vestry member can be contacted via the church office at 310-375-4617. You can also email Fabrizio directly.
