What's Happening!

Update and Thanks from Mo. Paula
Thank you for your prayers and support! I will NOT be having surgery for my torn meniscus because I have not been having any pain and I can walk! If I was in pain and couldn't walk I definitely would have. I took a supplement, Wobenzym N from Whole Foods, for joint health and it definitely contributed. Your prayers and care were a blessing!
Gratefully, Mo. Paula+
Note:
Mo. Paula will be on vacation next week, July 20 through July 24
The Rev Greg Brown from St Cross Church in Hermosa Beach is available in case there is a pastoral emergency - you can reach him at St. Cross's main number (310-376-8989); if no one is in the office, dialing extension 911 will route the message to his cell phone.

New Diocesan Bishop Appointment -
Contribute to the Diocesan Profile
This Saturday, July 18th, from 10:00AM-Noon
at St. Cross, 1818 Monterey Boulevard, Hermosa Beach.
Our Diocese is holding a series of Listening Sessions throughout the Diocese to help our Bishop Diocesan Search Committee build its Diocesan Profile, which will be instrumental in preparing to nominate Bishop Diocesan candidates, one of whom will succeed Bishop Bruno.
We ask for your prayers for this search process, but we also ask for your participation, if possible, in one of the Listening Sessions.

The Search Committee wants to hear: "your vision of who we aspire to be as a Diocese and the skill and qualities you believe are necessary for a leader who will shepherd us in the years to come."

If you have any questions, St. Francis parishioner Hank Gatlin is a member of the Search Committee and will be helping to facilitate the sessions at St. John's and St. Cross. He would welcome discussing the search process with you. Contact him via the church office on 310 375-4617.

6th-12th Graders' Summer Schedule
The leaders have put together a schedule of special events for the summer, which is posted on the St Francis website.

and don't forget...

Dialogue and Donuts

- right after church on Sunday mornings. Lasting about the time it takes parents to get a cup of coffee (20 minutes?) we will discuss what we heard in church that morning and share Pows and Wows.
Confirmation
Here at St Francis on September 27, 2015
On Sunday, September 27, 2015 Bishop Mary Glasspool will be in our parish to celebrate Eucharist with us and administer the sacrament of Confirmation. Any teens (age 14 or older), or adults who wish to find out more please contact Mo. Paula.
'Can Can Canucopia'
Sunday, July 26
Kick up your heels, as the people of St. Francis will once again generously contribute to feeding the families of Mama Hill's Help (and possibly others) by collecting canned food...thus, "Can Can Cornucopia!"
Please look through your own storage and go shopping if necessary, for canned foods that can be easily heated up or eaten right out of the cans. Those tab top cans are PERFECT for this food drive. Mama Hill's Help is closed until mid-August, but food is always needed. Help make possible a meal for a day or two for a needy family or individual...it takes so very little for each of us to make a significant impact on those less fortunate.
(No pumpkin or pumpkin pie filling, please)
.
Join us in celebrating our ability to do what we can...can...can!

Contact Mo. Paula
or via the church office on 310-375 4617.

You are not interrupting our work -

you ARE our work!

Or just come to any or all of our services, and take a moment to sit quietly, light a candle in memory, or to symbolize your feeling, and let God be God - in you - for a few small, still moments. With blessings and prayers for comfort and love.

Clergy Transition Process

The St. Francis Vestry is very pleased to announce that Bishop Bruno has named Mother Paula as our Priest in Charge Under Special Circumstances (PIC-USC) effective April 1st! This decision initiates a formal mutual discernment period of 12 months to call Mother Paula as our Rector. As always, feel free to contact our Senior Warden Fabrizio, or any Vestry member if you have any questions regarding the Rector transition process. Any Vestry member can be contacted via the church office at 310-375-4617. You can also email Fabrizio directly.
