How did the Episcopal Church get started in America? In these three sessions, we will explore our roots and traditions, our spirituality and polity, meet a few men and women who have influenced our Episcopal identity, and attempt to understand who we have become in the 21st century.
Embracing a Life of Meaning
Tuesdays, Sept 30, Oct 7, Oct 14, Oct 21 and Oct 28, 7 - 9 pm, Library
Facilitated by The Rev. Sarah Phelps
Mo. Sarah will lead 5 small group sessions using a DVD-and-discussion-based curriculum called "Embracing a Life of Meaning." The DVD features Kathleen Norris, an award-winning poet, writer and author of four New York Times bestsellers including Dakota, The Cloister Walk and Amazing Grace. Her writing has been described as "intimate and historical, rich in poetry and meditations, brimming with exasperation and reverence, deeply grounded in both nature and spirit, sometimes funny and often provocative." Please bring $14 to the first session to purchase the participant guidebook.

We invite you to bring your beloved pets for a Blessing of the Animals, by the side of the church in the St Francis Garden. Be sure pets are on leashes or in crates to safeguard the love!
Sunday, October 5, ONE service only - 10am
Celebrate our church patron, St Francis of Assisi. To honor the one family of God that we have become, we shall have one service at 10am, followed by a festival! In the church patio we shall have an Italian feast, a bouncy house and pets of all kinds! Let us celebrate the gift of our history, the gift of our faith and the joy and legacy of St Francis! Mark that Sunday morning as a time to give thanks together!

Memorial Service
There will be a memorial service for Roberta 'Bobbie' Lennon - on Friday October 3rd. at 11am.

It will be held at Wayfarer's Chapel - 5755 Palos Verdes Dr. South, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Immediately following there will be a reception at the Palos Verdes Bay Club, in the main pool area. 32821 Seagate Dr., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.

ECW Disbursements Meeting (and Requests)
Sunday, October 12/14 from 9am-10am
Traditionally, a portion of our fundraising (approx. $5000) goes to church projects and another portion (another approx. $5000) to outreach external to our church. If an organization in our church would like to submit a request for funds or suggestion for ECW consideration, please submit the name of the group, purpose of gift (it can be general e.g. garden upkeep) and suggested amount if you have one in mind (it is not required) to the ECW box in the office by Wed, Oct 1, or contact Tina van der Velden directly. If you have any questions or want to discuss, please feel free to reach out to Tina via email Tina van der Velden, or call her at 310-465-0418.
Designs For Dining 2015- February 27-28

Our next Designs for Dining fundraiser for the benefit of the St. Francis Outreach Scholarship Fund will be a banner year! It will be the 15th anniversary of this beautiful event and we want to make it a barn-burner. Read more here...

Don't Wash Your Car
Sunday Morning October 12th, 8am - noon
Our youth will be holding a car wash while we are in church. So bring your dirty car to church, leave it with the kids (and adults) while you worship, and come out to a clean car. What could be better? Suggested donation is $10 (+ tip?). Come support our Youth Ministries while getting your car washed, vacuumed, and dried. Get your ticket in advance from any youth, or just come that morning.
