What's Happening...

Goodbye Party for Ray!!
This Sunday - January 5th 11:30am - party, lunch and music!
At 11:30 we will gather in the parish hall to thank Ray for his almost 25 years of music ministry and service with the parishioners of St Francis.

We will celebrate with luncheon food, presentations, and music of course!

We hope our special time together today, his last day in our parish, sends him off in a grand fashion of gratitude and warm wishes.
Be Wisemen!
Come to a Family Epiphany Party!
Monday, January 6th - 5:30 to 7pm
A night of family fun to celebrate the Kings arrival to honor baby Jesus. Potluck supper! We will provide Kings cake! Have your kids dressed up in their own homemade Kings' capes. We will make crowns, and process around with a few songs and read a wisemen story. Please bring a canned food "gift " for outreach.

Religious vs. Spiritual II
Here at St Francis, January 14th, 7:30pm. Free. Cookies provided.
The next Dawn Unity Group's Interfaith Discovery Series will be held here at St. Francis. "Religious vs. Spiritual II", is a follow-up to one that prompted a lot of discussion on this timely topic last year.

Last year's panel discussion was among pulpit clergy without the input from someone whose search involves more personal methods, so this year such an individual will be on the panel to present his perspective. Mr. Jonathan Whittle-Utter is a yoga teacher and holistic body worker currently earning his PhD in Somatic Depth Psychology at Pacific Graduate Institute; he is on the board of the Southern California Committee for a Parliament of World Religions, and he grew up in a clergy home; so, he well suited to explore this topic.

The other panelists are Rev. Jonathan Chute. Rolling Hills United Methodist Church; Rabbi Brian Schuldenfrei, Congregation Ner Tamid; and Fr. Alexei Smith, Director of Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles; Bob Rothman is the Moderator. Call (310) 833-7008 for questions.

Need a prayer, or to talk with the clergy?

Contact Mo. Paula
or via the church office on 310-375 4617.

You are not interrupting our work -

you ARE our work!

Or just come to any or all of our services, and take a moment to sit quietly, light a candle in memory, or to symbolize your feeling, and let God be God - in you - for a few small, still moments. With blessings and prayers for comfort and love.
