What's Happening...

Happy New Church Year!

The church year always begins on Advent Sunday. Prepare, start over, make amends, make resolutions - and most of all - look forward with joy!

For the church geeks among you we start Year A in our lectionary readings for services.

Thanksgiving Morning
Holy Communion 10am
Start your day off with joy. Then time to head off for the big meal - or just spend the rest of the day in quiet gratitude. Whether you're alone or with company, this service will cheer your heart and warm your soul!
This Sunday - Advent Wreath Making
and Friars' Advent Breakfast
This Sunday - December 1st after 10am Service
We will have the wreaths and all the fixins' available for a $5 donation/wreath. If you have your wreath base from last year, bring it and make a new wreath for just $2. You can make your wreath right then and there while enjoying a delicious breakfast, or take it to go and make it at home.

Plus....
  • Christmas Pageant Casting & Costumes. We will be casting characters and passing out costumes for our Annual Christmas Eve Pageant.
  • Gift-wrapping demonstration. St. Anne's Guild's gift to the Parish will be a demonstration of gift wrapping by Rosie Sato, the 2011 Winner of Scotch Brand "Most Gifted Wrapper" Contest. She will be in the Board Room. Please join us and you will learn to make a ribbon rose.
  • "A St.FrancisDoorbuster! There will be a chance to purchase a t-shirt (white) or hoodie sweatshirt (gray) with a St. Francis Youth logo on the front while supplies last. We have some Adult sizes and some youth sizes. Donations will be accepted, there are no set prices. Monies collected will be sent to Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) for an outreach opportunity decided upon the children and youth this Advent season."
Advent Parish Reads...
Join with us in a short daily reading and reflection with our parish read for Advent: Preparing for Christmas: Daily Meditations for Advent by Richard Rohr.

Advent should be much more that the countdown to Christmas and in this book Fr. Richard Rohr, a Franciscan priest and globally recognized ecumenical teacher, takes on a series of meditations on the true meaning of Advent and Christmas - our Christian expectation and anticipation of the coming of Christ in glory. Order your copy now from Amazon or contact Peter Marshall for further details.

Flourish in Faith
Kindly Respond with Pledge Cards as soon as possible...
All active households in our parish should have received a mailing from our "Flourish In Faith" campaign, including an invitation to pledge of our time, talents and treasure to our ministry in 2014. If you have not received it, you may request a copy here .
Our Vestry, Ministry Council and Clergy leaders were challenged to invest in our parish by increasing our financial pledges by at least 10% this year.

Our leaders responded by pledging a collective total of $84,477, or 22% more than 2013. Thank you to these very generous and dedicated parish leaders! If you would join them in this movement of generosity, kindly return your pledge cards to St. Francis as soon as possible. This helps us in our financial planning for the coming year. Thank you very much.
