What's Happening...

Godly Play Art Night
Friday, November 15, 5:30pm
Our Godly Play classroom is in need of some new materials to tell our stories. We need help cutting paper and felt, painting small wooden figures, even sculpting Mt. Sinai. This is the same night as the Egg Boil, so if you are bringing your son or daughter to it, please stay and make something sacred! Everyone at St. Francis is welcome. Light snacks provided! Email Kate Buchen with questions.
St Luke's Homeless Breakfast Ministry
Saturday, November 16, 7:00am - 10:30am
We support St. Luke's shower program for the needy in Long Beach, CA.
You can help by:
  • giving donations
  • helping prepare and serve breakfast
  • helping 'behind the scenes' (eg. with the clothing closet)
Come along for all or part of the time. Full details here... And thank you!
Contact: Darryl Tillman.
Pastoral Care Workshop
Christian Caregiving & Prayer
Sunday November 17th- 11:30am - 1:00pm - lunch included
Led by Mo. Paula and Kristina Pelá
Please note that you do not need to be part of an "official" ministry, nor are you expected to commit to an "official" ministry afterwards; this is simply an opportunity for our church family to deepen what God has already begun within each of us. Please sign up in the church office or by emailing or calling
Kristina Pelá at (310) 375-9823.
Flourish in Faith
Kindly Respond with Pledge Cards as soon as possible...
All active households in our parish should have received a mailing from our "Flourish In Faith" campaign, including an invitation to pledge of our time, talents and treasure to our ministry in 2014. If you have not received it, you may request a copy here .
Our Vestry, Ministry Council and Clergy leaders were challenged to invest in our parish by increasing our financial pledges by at least 10% this year.

Our leaders responded by pledging a collective total of $84,477, or 22% more than 2013. Thank you to these very generous and dedicated parish leaders! If you would join them in this movement of generosity, kindly return your pledge cards to St. Francis as soon as possible. This helps us in our financial planning for the coming year. Thank you very much.

Mama Hill - Thanksgiving
you can help a family give thanks...
  • gift certificates or cash/checks to purchase turkeys - please make your checks payable to Mama Hill's Help and mark "Thanksgiving turkeys" in the memo line; checks or cash can be left in the church office in the Outreach mail box (Jayne Bray).
  • canned or boxed foods for side dishes-eg. green beans, corn, instant mashed potatoes, boxed potatoes dishes, canned sweet potatoes, jellied cranberry sauce, etc. Place in bags labeled "Mama Hill's Help - Thanksgiving" in the bins in the Parish Hall.

God bless you all for your ongoing generosity and support of this very special program. Know that your caring and concern is deeply appreciated. Jayne Bray, Outreach at St Francis.

Taizé - Hope and Thanksgiving
Tuesday, November 26th, 7 pm
A special time for offering prayers for thanksgiving for all that we are blessed with. Of course, Taizé is also a particular source of comfort and peace for all who may be struggling to find a way to gratefulness through pain, loss, grief, trouble, or any kind of sorrow or sickness. Come, be blessed, and lay your heavy burdens at the feet of our loving God.
Thanksgiving Morning
Holy Communion 10am
A sweet service of thanksgiving - complete with your favorite Harvest and Thanksgiving hymns to start your day off with joy and grace. Then time to go home and start the preparations for the big meal - or just spend the rest of the day in quiet gratitude. Whether you're alone or with company, this service will cheer your heart and warm your soul! Blessings, and see you then!

We would love your donated items to offer for sale. Please bring wrapped gifts of $20 and higher value to the parish office, and include a brief description of the item on the bottom of the wrapped gift eg.
