Take Your Child to the Library Day

(featuring Bill Robinson & Birds of Prey) 

 

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1st - 12pm-3pm

  

Explore the treasures at your local library with the whole family:
At 1pm: Bill Robinson is back with his birds! (Saturday only)

 

ALSO: scavenger hunt * build a tower with Legos * DIY craft table * snuggle & share a book together * draw a picture on the kids' computers *play with blocks & puzzles * discover local history * get a library card *check out a dvd or cd * refreshments & more!

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo! 

SATURDAY, MAY 3rd - 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.:

 

This interactive, cross-cultural educational program for children will feature traditional Mexican dance and arts. During the program, youth and adults are invited to learn about Mexican culture through hands-on activities including making cascarones (confetti-filled egg shells, traditionally used at Easter and during community celebrations) and piņatas. The program also includes a short performance and experiential lesson-demonstration of traditional Oaxacan folk dancing by youth and adults from the Poughkeepsie-based Grupo Folclorico.

Laptop lab
Wednesday Mornings through March 9:30am-11:30am

 

 The community room will be available to residents of the Marlboro Central School District as a JOB HELP LAB for two hours a week on Wednesday mornings.  Job seekers need a quiet space and more research time than most computer users in the library. Six laptops and a dedicated printer will be available for job seekers who pre-register to use the lab between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Register for one or more dates. Please let us know if you are not able to attend your schedule date.  Drop-ins will also be welcome if there are any stations free.  Classes on job seeking tips and strategies will also be offered from time to time.

Learn how to  download free ebooks and audiobooks  - February 20, 11:00am - 1:00pm

 Library staff and MidHudson Library System's Automated Sytems Manager, Eric McCarthy will be on hand in the community room to help you learn how to download free books and/or troubleshoot problems you may be having with your device whether it be a Nook, a Kindle, an iPad, smartphone, or other ereader.  Please RSVP, walk-ins welcome!
