Thursday, November 1 - Steve Hamilton Steve Hamilton is the author of twelve books. Nine novels and one short story all feature reluctant private detective, Alex McNight, who operates in Mr. Hamilton's native Michigan. Mr. Hamilton's very first book, A Cold Day in Paradise, won the Private Eye Writers of America/St. Martin's Press Award for Best First Mystery by an Unpublished Writer. His 2010 novel The Lock Artist won the Mystery Writers of America Edgar Award for Best Novel. This was his second Edgar award. Only four other authors have won the award twice.
The Marlboro Library Book Club recently read Night Work set in Ulster County where he now resides. It was nominated for the Crime Writers Association top prize in 2006. His most recent Alex McNight novel is Die A Stranger. |

Saturday, November 3 - InterNat'l Games Day
Join us from noon to 4 p.m. at the Library as over 1,000 libraries all over the globe celebrate International Games Day. Lots of options are available including Wii/Super Smash Brothers or Disney Princesses, XBOX /360 Sonic Tennis or demos, PC Games: League of Legends, Everquest 2, Free Realms, Game Table Online (RPG and Strategy games like Axis & Allies 1942), as well as board games and card games throughout the library.

Dr. Armstead, who is a member of the Bard faculty, puts an historical perspective on the diary of a Beacon farmer and former slave in her new book, Freedom's Gardener: James F. Brown, Horticulture, and the Hudson Valley in Antebellum America. |
