Dear friends:
One of the great privileges of our life as a congregation is the number of baptisms we celebrate. Several times each month, beautifully dressed parents stand nervously before the congregation, proudly presenting their gift of a child. I usually take the opportunity to remind them that not only does God claim this child as God's own, but that the congregation does the same.

In baptism, the congregation promises "by our fellowship to strengthen this child's family ties with the household of God." In other words, we embrace the privilege of surrounding these children with the love and support they will need for the journey.
As our youth stand before us this weekend to lead worship, to speak of their faith journeys, and to thank the congregation for the tremendous support they've enjoyed over the years, I'll remember those baptism promises, from their parents who promised to "pray with and for them" and from the congregation, which so generously provides for their growth and well-being.
As we listen, I invite you to join me in delighting in this marvelously counter-cultural, multi-generational, interdependent extended family called Covenant and to thank God for the privilege of sharing the road with each other.
The Chapel (8:45 a.m.) and Fellowship Hall (11 a.m.) services will maintain their standard formats (with youth taking the sermon portions) while the Sanctuary services will be youth-designed and youth-led. I trust you will find all services inspiring.
Warmly,
