
After strong start, Open Table set for Week Two
On the menu is chicken pot pie, broccoli, salad bar, cookies, ice cream and fruit. Dinner is self-serve from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for $7 (adults) and $5 (kids) with a $25 maximum. Programs for all ages include:
- Charlotte's Wake-Up Call: A Community Dialogue: Newcomers welcome. Dr. Vernon Gettone will show us how personal bias works. Bring your smart phone and/or an iPad -- we'll take a bias quiz online as part of the session. 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Details here.
- Telling the Story of Your Life - The Power of Personal Narrative: This week, we'll discover engaging tools and techniques to retrieve and record our adventures, love, loss, successes and more, no matter where we are in the process. 6:30 to 7:30 in FH 205. Details here.

Congregational meeting is Sunday
On agenda: Budget and terms of call for pastors
The Session has called a meeting of the Covenant Congregation and Corporation at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary for the following purposes:
- presentation of the 2017 budget adopted by the Session; and
- vote on proposed changes in the terms of call for the installed pastors.

As we shared in this space, Carla Leaf has announced plans to retire in June 2018 after 15+ years as director of mission and outreach. The church is moving toward a search for staff leadership, and the Personnel Committee invites you to share your ideas and recommendations at two listening sessions:

Former Joint Chiefs chairman to speak at breakfast
Men's group welcomes Gen. Peter Pace
All men of the church (and friends) are invited to hear Gen. Peter Pace offer "A Day in the Life" reflections on his eventful career.
Gen. Pace was the first Marine to become Joint Chiefs chairman (2005 to 2007). He is now retired and involved in many charitable causes. When: Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 7 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. RSVP here.
