What it's like to sing the National Anthem at a Knights game
Covenant member Ellie Morgan grew up singing and playing guitar. Now 23, performs at weddings and special events. We asked Ellie to tell us about her debut last Thursday at BB&T Park.
When I studied at Queens University here in Charlotte, I sang the anthem for a few home basketball games, but the Knights game was definitely my biggest crowd.
For me, remembering the words is never too tricky. I rehearse a lot beforehand and I've been dreaming of singing the National Anthem for a major sporting team for a long time, so I've had plenty of time to prepare. People often ask if I get nervous, and my answer is always 'no.' I get very excited and can't wait to get out there. Once I begin singing, the nerves kick in a little bit. But it is such a thrill and I enjoy it so much that I can't wait until the next time. Click here to watch the performance.
