A Message From Jessica Patchett       Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016

Dear friends,

I hope this note finds you safe and warm.

Tomorrow at Covenant, we'll be gathering for the two sanctuary worship services only; but, we want you to join us only if you can do so safely. If you're iced in, consider worshiping with us online at 9:30 or 11 a.m.

We'll be continuing our series on how to make love last a lifetime in our marriages and most intimate relationships, and this week we're exploring forgiveness.

Forgiveness answers the questions we have about how to move on or recover from offense, injury or betrayal. It's one of the most essential ingredients of any love we hope to enjoy long-term. Jesus said we should offer it to other members of the church seven times seventy-seven times (and it makes me wonder, if we're supposed to offer it to other members of the church seven times seventy-seven times, how many more times then, are we to offer it to the people we're married to and live with)?

Since many of us are snowed in, you might consider reading a story about how one man, Joseph, responds when he was pushed to the limits of what we'd find reasonable to forgive. On Sunday, we'll read Genesis chapter 37, but the big reveal of the story happens in chapter 45. If you have half an hour, read the whole thing. It's a whirlwind of betrayal, intrigue, political drama, dreams, natural disasters and a surprise ending.

Hope to see you (even if it's virtually!) tomorrow,

Jessica Patchett, associate minister
