Voices of Experience
Thank you to everyone who came to today's YPN: Voices of Experience meeting. And a huge round of applause for our panel of Past Presidents and 2013's REALTOR® of the Year. Marcia Weddle talked about the importance of getting involved with RAL; how attending meetings and events can make you more knowledgeable and confident with current and future clients. She also encouraged young REALTORS® to not be afraid to ask to be appointed to committees that may interest them. "You can't rely on someone else to take care of your business," she advised. "You have jump right in and do it yourself." Julie Joeckel talked about the structure of meetings and how Robert's Rules and meeting structure can make a committee successful. She also advised that the best way to learn about committee organization is just to go to a committee meeting and observe. Connie Burleigh referenced the phrase, "Time is money," and recommended that all REALTORS® invest in themselves. "Take the time to become involved in RAL committees," she said. "For just that one hour (for a meeting), you can learn so much!" George Hancock finished up the panel with some great stories about how things have changed over the years with the REALTORS® Association of Lincoln. But he also emphasized what has remained the same: the sense of pride we have in our organization and the fact that we can be friendly and professional with one another despite coming from different companies/offices. Our next YPN meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20 at noon. Keep and eye out for some upcoming events that will be sure to get you moving! |
