Dear ,

Wayne

This has been a year full of blessings and growth! One of the biggest accomplishments was the completion of the covered bridge calendar. What a project! I am pleased with the result though.

We were able to have it ready for the Mom's Weekend Arts & Crafts Show at Oregon State University in May. That was a new show for us. It was fun to sit there on campus and watch all the students and their mom's and remember past parent weekends when we were students.

We now have a presence in the Portland area. We were invited to hang a few pieces at Aspen Grove Wellness Center in Beaverton. Hopefully we will find a few more outlets up that way.

I also took the plunge in Albany and entered my first juried show since our move here. I didn't win any awards but did have 3 of my 4 entries juried into the show. I was also invited to sign up to be the featured artist at the City Hall for a month.

These have been good additions to our regular list of summer festivals. I would say we have been blessed with an eventful year!

Kathy and I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with rememberances of the things you are most thankful for. You are certainly on our list! You are an important part of our support team and without you we can't do what we are able to do for kids in need.

Thank you so much!!

When we moved to Albany, Oregon, in 2010, we learned that one of the major events is the annual Northwest Art & Air Festival held in August. We were excited to find out that meant hot air balloons, not airplanes. I always thought it would be fun to ride in a hot air balloon!

We didn't make it to the festival that first year as we settled in, but the next year we checked it out and realized what a great art event it was. So, in 2012 we joined the other art vendors at Timber Linn Park for our first Art & Air Festival. I was able to photograph the lift off the second day of the event and knew I needed to make a drawing when people kept asking if I had one.

I wasn't able to get the drawing done before the 2013 festival, but I always like to have something in progress on my drawing board at events. You guessed it! Morning Liftoff was my project of choice. It was fun to do all the colors in the balloons.

Morning Liftoff is drawn in pen & ink and finished with a watercolor wash and colored pencil. It took 12+ hours to complete; click on the picture to see a larger image. This 8"x10" original drawing will sell for $490. If you'd like to see this drawing in person, please let me know!

Special Hangings

If you are in the Albany, OR, area in November, be sure to stop by the City Hall and enjoy the Juried Art Show. It is a lovely show hanging in the main hallway for the month. The building is open between 8 and 5 on weekdays and does not charge admission. If you can't make it in November, but enjoy good art, there are monthly hangings year around presented by local artists. We'll let you know when Wayne is the featured artist.

We can already tell you he will be the featured artist at The Church of the Good Samaritan in Corvallis. His work will hang in the main lobby during the months of December and January. It will be available for viewing on weekdays between 9 and 4 and on Sunday mornings. No charge for this one either.
