Dear ,

Wayne

As the leaves turn to red and orange, we finish up our regular art show/festival season. The white tent has been packed away until spring. Thanks to all of you who came by and said 'hi' and took a peek over my shoulder to see what was on the drawing board this past year.

I will continue to hang my work at Bo-Mack's BBQ on 1st Street in Albany, OR, year round. though. Thanks for your support there as well. Help me thank them for the wall space by stopping in to enjoy some of the best BBQ in the Willamette Valley!

For those of you in the Portland/Beaverton area, you can now find a few of my drawings hanging (for sale) at the new Aspen Grove Wellness Centers office on Nimbus. We are always on the look-out for new places to hang pictures or to place notecards. If you've got a spot, please let us know.

It is because of all of you that I am able to do what I do--draw hope for God's kids! Thank you all so much for your support!

You thrill me Lord,

with all you have done for me!

I sing for joy because of what you have done.

 ~Psalm 92:4 (NLT)

When it comes to drawing, flowers are my passion. I have enjoyed working on all the pictures I have drawn. I have even been set on a few quests in order to have enough of one topic for calendars, i.e. Pacific Northwest Lighthouses, Oregon Covered Bridges, and Del Norte County Scenes; but... flowers are my passion!

If I am drawing something man-made, such as a truck or lighthouse, I have to draw it the way it really is. I want every fender and lens to be right. I don't want some guy to come up to me at an art show and say, "I worked on that bridge, and that beam just isn't right."

When I draw flowers,
I am free to draw them the way I feel they need to be. God makes each one unique, so I don't feel the pressure to make mine look like His.

I have admired the photography of Terri McKee, a fellow artist and acquaintance, for several years, and Terri has followed my work with favorable comments. I was honored to have her request that I draw one of her photographs. I chose her daylily as my subject. Thank you for the honor, Terri. I'm glad you were pleased with the result.

Each picture I draw has a special challenge for me. Getting the colors right was my stretch on this one as I had to blend the colors at the center of each flower from green to magenta.

Terri's Promise is drawn in pen & ink and finished with a watercolor wash and colored pencil. It took 16 hours to complete; click on the picture to see a larger image. This 8"x10" original drawing will sell for $640. If you'd like to see this drawing in person, please let me know!

Know Where Your Money is Going

This time of year it seems that every time we turn around some 'worthy cause' is asking for us to help them to help the needy to have a better Christmas. Oh, how we believe in that! That is one of the missions of Acrewood Art. That is exactly why Wayne is "...drawing hope for God's kids!"  But... it is especially important at this time of year to guard against scam charities soliciting your money.

We continue to sponsor 6 children through Compassion International. We are so pleased to report that: "Compassion consistently receives high ratings for financial accountability and integrity. Charity Navigator, America's largest charity evaluator, has awarded Compassion its highest rating - four stars - for 12 consecutive years, placing Compassion in the top 1 percent of all charities."

We always consult Charity Navigator before making donations to any charity, whether for Acrewood Art or our own personal giving. Their Top Ten lists of best & worst charities are real eye openers!!

Thank you for being a part of the Acrewood Art team! Our kids are your kids too! Thanks for supporting them!!!
