Board of Trustees Meeting Summary
The Board of Trustees met in regular session on Thursday,

Trustees Approve Watauga Elementary School Principal

At their regular meeting, Birdville ISD's Board of Trustees approved Sarah M. Upchurch as principal of Watauga Elementary School. She is replacing Justin Vercher, who recently accepted a new position in Northwest ISD.

 

Upchurch has been assistant principal at Watauga Elementary since 2010. Prior to Watauga, she was assistant principal at both Birdville and Smith elementary schools from 2007-10; and a second-grade teacher from 2004-07, first-grade teacher from 2003-04, and fourth-grade teacher from 2001-03 at Mullendore Elementary.

 

She earned her bachelor's degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and master's degree from Dallas Baptist University.

Betty Buckley Awards Announced



Congratulations to Hannah Hightshoe, Haltom High School student, for winning Student-Directed Best Play, and Michael Gonzalez, Haltom High School student, for winning Best Actor in Haltom's production of "To Kill A Mockingbird."

Birdville High wins Best Orchestra at Betty Buckley Awards








Congratulations to Birdville High School for winning Best Orchestra at the Betty Buckley Awards. This was for the school's production of "Once Upon a Mattress."  Pictured are: Gary Barnard, band director; Seth Vaught, student representative from the orchestra; and Amy Allibon, musical director/conductor.
