Birdville High principal named Texas Association of Secondary School Principals' Region Outstanding Principal
Jason Wells, Birdville High School principal, has been selected to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) as their Region XI Outstanding High School Principal of the Year. TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals from the 20 region Education Service Centers in the state. Each of the region winners will be recognized during the Josten's Night of the Stars Awards Dinner on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Hilton Austin Downtown Hotel. Affordable Care Act
On July 15, 2013, the IRS issued Internal Revenue Bulletin 2013-29.  The bulletin provides transition relief for employees who are eligible to enroll in employer-sponsored, non-calendar year plans.  The individual penalties for failing to have health insurance coverage will not take effect until the first day of the 2014 plan year.

  • The transition relief means it is no longer pressing that employees enroll in ActiveCare during August 2013 open enrollment.
  • Employees in covered districts will not be subject to a penalty for failing to have coverage until the first day of the 2014 plan year.  For ActiveCare districts, the first day of the 2014 plan year is September 1, 2014.
  • The transition relief applies only to districts with non-calendar year plans, such as ActiveCare.
