Birdville ISD announces five administrative appointments
Superintendent Dr. Darrell G. Brown announced five administrative appointments for the 2013-14 school year.

Jaimie Smith was named early childhood coordinator for BISD. She is replacing Sharon Heier, who recently left the district to take a principal position in another district.

Greg Bicknell was named principal at Porter Elementary, where he is replacing Jaimie Smith. Bicknell has been principal at Smithfield Elementary School since 2007.
Melissa R. Minix was named principal of Smithfield Elementary School. She is replacing Greg Bicknell, who was named principal at W.A. Porter Elementary School.
Minix was assistant principal at Francisco and Snow Heights elementary schools from 2012-13 and Hardeman Elementary School from 2009-12. Prior to 2009, she was librarian from 2005-09 and kindergarten teacher from 2001-05 at Hardeman. Minix was Hardeman's and the district's elementary teacher of the year for 2005-06.
She earned her bachelor's degree from Oklahoma Christian University and master's degree from Texas Woman's University.
David S. Powers was named director of transportation. He is replacing Kevin Campbell, who recently retired from BISD after 35 years.
Powers has been manager of operations in the Transportation Department at Fort Worth ISD since 2010. He also served as general manager and operations supervisor at Fort Worth ISD from 2007-10. Prior to Fort Worth ISD, he served in various positions with United Parcel Service from 1990-2006.

Michelle Provence was named coordinator of health services. She is replacing Amy Howard, who left the district after the 2012-13 school year.
Provence has been health services administrator at UTMB-TJJD Corsicana Residential Treatment Center since 2012. Prior to UTMB-TJJD, she served as director of school based health centers at John Peter Smith Health Network from 2011-12 and coordinator of health services for Arlington ISD from 2007-11. Provence has 11 additional years of nursing experience.
