Fall Product Program News
Explore Something Different

Is your Girl Scout troop interested in a money earning activity that's easy, provides start up funds right away, and offers customers a variety of delicious yet inexpensive items to purchase?

The council's Fall Product Sale of nuts, candies, magazines, and address booklets is September 23 - October 23, with delivery of nuts and candy November 13 - 19. Community (formerly Service Unit) Fall Product Training is August 27.

Girls earn start up money for their troop and earn cool patches and other recognitions!

The fall product sale differs from the cookie sale in that all orders are pre-paid, and there are no booth sales. The troop earns $1 for every food item sold, $2 for every address booklet (only one per girl) completed, and 10% of the price of each magazine sold (and 15% for online sales).

Girl Scouts Louisiana East prepares
to "go live" with CEI

Girl Scouts Louisiana East is in the final stages of the Customer Engagement Initiative launch!  We are presently in the process of migrating membership data from our former database system to an all-new membership registration system and Girl Scout Member Community. While eBiz is no longer handling membership registration/renewal, it will continue to be the online option for registering for events and trainings.

With the new technology upgrades, all aimed at improving the experience of being a Girl Scout, some terminology will be changing.  Service Unit Teams are becoming Community Teams, for example.

We can't wait for you to see the Volunteer Toolkit that will help you save time and plan for success! The Volunteer Toolkit comes with pre-populated plans for everything - a full year of Girl Scouts right there on your computer, tablet, or phone!  Here's a short video to learn more!

For more information about CEI, pre-launch, visit http://www.gsle.org/en/for-volunteers/cei.html  Once CEI is launched, volunteers and caregivers will receive email with detailed information on how to access the Membership registration system through the MyGS portal on the website.

FOREVER Girl Scouts Adult Camping Weekend
Once a Girl Scout, FOREVER a Girl Scout

If you are a Girl Scout alumnae, you know just how transforming Girl Scouts can be. You hiked trails, camped out under the stars, and canvassed your neighborhood to sell Trefoils and Thin Mints for yourself or for your Girl Scout troop. You honed your skills with each badge earned and ultimately learned how to lead.

Today, we come together because we recognize the importance of Girl Scouting. You are teachers, parents, business executives, and scientists who credit Girl Scouting as the place where you found your voice, formed lifelong friendships, and learned new skills.

Girl Scouts Louisiana East is inviting you to join us for our first (and we hope to be annual) FOREVER Girl Scouts - Adult Camping Weekend. If you were a Girl Scout growing up, troop leader, volunteer, camp counselor, or staff member (both female and male) anywhere in the world, please SAVE THE DATE for:
Friday, September 9 - Sunday, September 11, 2016 at
Girl Scouts Camp Whispering Pines, Independence, LA
and/or
Friday, September 16 - Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Girl Scouts Camp Marydale, St. Francisville, LA

Whether you want to enjoy a relaxing weekend with friends, build memories at your favorite Girl Scout camp, or want to get back in touch with old friends and make new ones, the GSLE FOREVER Girl Scouts - Adult Camping Weekend is the weekend for you!

Grants Update
Girl Scouts receive camp scholarships from Aaron's

A big thank you to Aaron's Inc. for funding girls' scholarships to camp! Your grant will give girls, who might never be able to experience summer camp and the outdoors, this wonderful opportunity!

The $10,000 grant through the Aaron's Foundation's inaugural Own Your Summer Scholarship Program will allow 33 underserved youths to attend Camp Marydale or Camp Whispering Pines.

"There are many benefits that overnight summer camps provide young people with, including new opportunities to learn and grow while developing the leadership skills needed to become successful, community-building adults," said Andrea Freeman, vice president of marketing for Aaron's Inc.
