STEM Opportunities
Become a Special Agent in Infectious Disease!

Girls, in grades 6-12, see what it's like to be a medical detective as you seek to trace the spread of a mysterious virus (safe for humans and their pets) through a local community college.  

 

At Delgado's Science Camp on July 7-9, you'll learn techniques used in forensic science, biological research and medical care.  The workshop covers requirements for the Cadettes Special Agent Badge, but is open to all girls, grades 6 - 12.  Click here for details!

Annual Family Giving Kick-Off
Service Unit Annual Giving Chair Training is Aug. 22

The Annual Family Giving Kick-off/Training is Saturday, August 22, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at GSLE council headquarters in New Orleans. 


The kick-off is recommended for Service Unit Annual Giving Chair, Service Unit Administrator, or a representative from the Service Unit and will teach you how to plan a Service Unit ask event in order to reach your Annual Family Giving Campaign Goal. We will have food, raffles, and roundtable discussions led by volunteers from all regions on ways to reach your Service Unit giving goal.

Girl Scout Cookie Program sees 2 percent increase; 211 girls enter Cookie Hall of Fame!

Girl Scouts proved their sales ability once again this year, selling over 1 million boxes of cookies, with a 2% increase over last year's sale.  Thank you to all of the girls, parents, troop leaders, and other cookie volunteers who made this year's sale, such a success!  Click here for more.

Congratulations also goes to Elise Vickery, this year's top seller and cookie mogul who sold 2,501 boxes of cookies! She is among 211 Girl Scouts who sold 500+ boxes of cookies, entering the
GSLE Cookie Hall of Fame, and who are all invited to the Cookie Diva event at Gulf Island Water Park, June 13!  Also, don't forget, Diva Destination requests are due on May 8, by midnight!

Sixty-five girls achieved the C.E.O. (Chief Entrepreneur Officer) level who are going to Par-TEA later this month for high tea and sweet treats!

Service Unit Administrator Training
Service Unit Administrator Trainings set for June

The Service Unit Administrator is the primary lead for the local service unit. With such a vital role, we ask each Service Unit Administrator to participate in one of two trainings being held in June.  By attending one of these trainings, you will help your service unit keep up with the most accurate council information as well as discover ways to make your job easier!  Both training dates/locations will offer the same opportunities - Service Unit Administrator training and Volunteer Orientation training.  Please take advantage of these training opportunities so your Service Unit Team can start the 2015-2016 Girl Scout year successfully!
Please note: This training is REQUIRED ANNUALLY for the Service Unit Administrator position.

Special incentives for those who renew membership on-time!

 

Save the Date for the B.I.G. Event on September 12!

 

Can't wait to renew your membership for another year of Girl Scout fun? On-time registration is now - August 21!  

 

Any troop that registers 75% of its girl members and adult leadership by August 21 is eligible to participate in the BIG (Believe in Girls) event being held at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond on Saturday, September 12. BIG is $5 for girls and adults are free. The girls will also receive a patch at the event.  Click here for the BIG Event registration form.

 

The troop will also receive an additional two cents per box of cookies if registered by the August 21 deadline!

What's New
Take a Troop Staycation at CWP
Have fun at CWP!

Bring your Brownie-Ambassador troop/group for a three-day Staycation at Camp Whispering Pines this summer! Your group will enjoy age appropriate activities such as swimming, boating, rock climbing, zip lining, arts and crafts, outdoor cooking, archery, and the Timber Lake Slide! Let us take care of the food, facilitators, and lodging! Your group's adults are responsible for camper supervision!

Summer Day Camps
Sewing day camp in Baton Rouge

Girls, grades 4 and up, come learn to use the sewing machine and make several easy projects during GSLE's Sew East, Sew Fun day camp at the Regional Service Center in Baton Rouge, July 13 - 17. Accommodations can be made for those with previous sewing experience to make more difficult projects. If you can help one or more days, please contact Aline for information. Click here for more.
