Renew your Membership by September 29!
It's time to re-register your Girl Scouts and troops for the upcoming membership year!
Troop leaders should renew all membership by 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on September 29; on September 30, members will "fall off" the eBiz troop roster. They will need to turn in paper registrations or have the parent create a login for eBiz and register the girl.
Also, all graduating seniors who want to be Lifetime Members will need to turn in their adult registration forms no later than September 1.

Many Girl Scout volunteer trainings are reimbursable
If the Girl Scout adult learning session you are taking has a fee, then it is an appropriate fee to be reimbursed to you from your troop's funds. Reimbursable trainings include Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/ AED Blended Learning, Basic Camping Skills, Darkness to Light, and American Red Cross Small Craft Safety.

The 2014 Women of Distinction luncheon has been set for Friday, November 7, at the Audubon Tea Room in New Orleans. Honorees will be announced shortly.

August - February edition of Program Pathways is available online
Program Pathways, our council's program guide, is available online and at the printer. It will be mailed to the families of Girl Scouts and re-registered troop leaders/ assistant leaders later this month.The website events calendar is also updated so you and your girls can plan your Girl Scout year!
This issue covers activities through February, and a second guide will be mailed in January covering the remainder of the Girl Scout year. Since the program team continues to add new activities for girls throughout the year, we encourage you to stay up-to-date by reading the monthly email newsletter and frequently visiting our website calendar and social media pages.

Service Unit Team Trainings being held Aug 9 & 16
If you are a member of your Service Unit Team,
please register for one of the Service Unit Team trainings being held Saturday, August 9 in Baton Rouge or August 16 in New Orleans! There will be adult learning sessions for Service Unit Administrator, Consultant, and Recruiter as well as Darkness to Light (a new, required training for all 01/02's focusing on child safety). Lunch will be provided.
Important: Please note that the Darkness to Light training is reimbursable by the troop.

Girl Scout Volunteer On-Boarding/ Renewal Process
|
As part of our council work to continually improve our process and ensure the safety of all Girl Scouts, we would like to let you know about some changes to our Volunteer process.
Volunteer Application - the Girl Scouts Louisiana East (GSLE) Volunteer Application has been revised and updated. All current and future volunteers are required to fill out an application annually. This process will help Girl Scouts Louisiana East make sure all volunteer records are accurate.
Background Screening - GSLE has partnered with Asurint to assist with volunteer background screening. All Girl Scout Troop Leaders (01), Assistant Leaders (02), and Troop Cookie Managers are required to complete an annual background check through Asurint. The cost is less than $10 and is reimbursable by the troop.

Do you ever wonder whose friendly voice you hear when you call the council? Girl Scouts Louisiana East is excited to announce Ashley Arnolie as its Employee of the Month for August 2014! Ashley has been the Receptionist/ Cashier for GSLE for 3 years, working out of the council's headquarters in New Orleans (although she answers the phone for all offices.)
Please join us in recognizing Ashley for her dedication and strong work ethic, enthusiasm, eagerness to help others, and for exemplifying the mission of Girl Scouting at Girl Scouts Louisiana East. Congratulations, Ashley!

The Annual Family Giving Campaign is back!
Join us on Saturday, August 23 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Council Headquarters in New Orleans as we celebrate the success of the 2014 Annual Family Giving Campaign and kick-off the 2015 year.
We will have pizza, raffles, and roundtable discussions led by volunteers on ways to reach your Service Unit Giving Goal. All Service Unit Giving Captains and Service Unit Administrators are expected to attend. Please register online by August 20.

Sale Dates are October 3-26
Magazine, Nut and Photo Online Program This year, customers can purchase ALL nuts, candy, magazines, and photo itemd online with a credit card. Orders are shipped directly to the customers with the girls/troop earning the same recognitions/ proceeds. Girls simply need to send 12+ emails starting Oct. 3 to get their sales started. With online ordering there is no delivery or money collection for girls/troop.
Keepsakes - New! For the first time, the council will offer photo keepsake items (photo books, holiday cards, calendars, posers and more) as part of the Fall Product Sale. They can be ordered online or by using the in-person order form. As a bonus, each photo keepsake will include a free Mobile Bookshelf App. This app allows users to store their digital creations online making it easy to reuse photos and reorder products anytime.
