Four girls selected to participate in Girl Scout Leadership Institute
Four Girl Scouts from southeast Louisiana have been selected to participate in the 2014 Girl Scout Leadership Institute (GSLI) in Salt Lake City, Utah, October 16-18. They are Rachael Tullier, Baton Rouge (representing Region 1); Rebekah Travis, New Orleans (representing Region 2), Madeline Monlezun, Covington (representing Region 3), and Morgan Ruoss, New Orleans, (representing Region 4).
The Girl Scout Leadership Institute brings together girls who are recognized as leaders in their councils to connect and take action on matters that touch the future for girls and for the Girl Scout Movement. The event runs concurrently with the Girl Scouts 2014 National Council Session/53rd Convention.
This year's theme - Girls Change the World - has never been more true. Girls will choose among seven issues and design related projects that will enable them to go out and make a difference in their communities. This year's issues are teen violence, healthy relationships, basic needs (such as hunger, poverty, homelessness, and natural disaster relief), inclusion/diversity, self-image/body image, education, and the status of women.

Camps complete ACA Accreditation
Girl Scout Camps Marydale, Whispering Pines, and Covington successfully completed their American Camp Association (ACA) accreditations last week! Every three years our camps undergo a thorough review process, to ensure we consistently achieve the highest standards in the areas of personnel, program, site administration, and health care.
Great job to Angela Arneal and her team, and our three camp rangers, Rangers David, Jason, and Mike!
