Council Shop News   

Saturday council shop hours (the first Saturday of the month) begin in September - Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

   

The Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting is on sale for $18.50 until Oct. 31 (reg. $22.50); Adult Journey Guide set on sale for $11.25 (reg. price $15); Bridging  patches are on sale for 0.99 cents while supplies last.  

 

The Volunteer Adult Resource Kit is perfect for every Girl Scout adult volunteer who is beginning the year working with girls on a Journey. The Kit includes Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting (sale $18.50 regular $22.50), Adult Insignia Tab, official Girl Scout Membership Pin, WAGGGS Pin, official Volunteer Pin, Adult Journey Guide Set (sale $11.25 reg. $15). The new membership year begins October 1! Make sure to re-register your Girl Scout membership by September 30, and you'll receive a coupon for 50% off a council program of your choice, excluding trips and camp.  Join us at the 2013 Women of Distinction Awards Dinner and Champagne Reception, Friday, September 27 in Baton Rouge

 

Girl Scouts Louisiana East is honoring nine amazing women and their contributions to the community at the 2013 Women of Distinction Awards Dinner on Friday, September 27, from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.  Honorary chair is 2012 Woman of Distinction Ann Forte Trappey and sponsors include Valero, Whitney Bank, Georgia-Pacific, and the Louisiana Lottery with additional sponsor opportunities available.  

 

You are invited to this fundraising dinner and a pre-dinner champagne reception beginning at 6:30 p.m., with proceeds going to support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in southeast Louisiana. Cost to attend the dinner is $75 per person and may be purchased online, with reserved tables of 10 available at $750. Cost to attend both the dinner and champagne reception is $85 per person.  Fall Product Program News

 large plush BeeThis year's Fall Product Program is October 4-27, with adult learning sessions, beginning September 14.  The Service Unit Fall Product Program Adult Learning Session is Saturday, September 14, at Ascension Parish Library, in Gonzales. Register now!  For new troop leaders, there are four Nut-e Fall Product Program Adult Learning Sessions from which to choose at council headquarters Sept. 17 or 24, or the regional service center in Baton Rouge, or Sept. 19 or 26.

eBiz online membership system undergoes upgrade

The eBiz online Membership registration site was upgraded in August, and as part of the upgrade all existing accounts (user names and passwords) were deactivated. All adults will need to create a New Online Account to gain access to the system following the upgrade. You can re-use your older username and password when creating your new online account, if you choose.

 Catholic Committee on Scouting information

 

Are you a Catholic Girl Scout interested in participating in a Catholic Girl Scout religious recognition program?  There are two active Catholic Committees: the Baton Rouge Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting (info.ccosbr.net) which is affiliated with the Diocese of Baton Rouge serving both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and the Catholic Committee on Girl Scouting, under the direction of the CYO/Youth & Young Adult Ministry Office of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

 

Each year the Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting holds several events in Baton Rouge to promote Catholic Scouting. This year the Luminous Mysteries Rosary patch program and a Religious Emblems Counselor Training is Sunday, October 27 at Our Lady of Mercy. The Catholic Committee on Girl Scouting which oversees the Catholic religious recognition program for Girl Scouts in the Archdiocese of New Orleans is having a meeting on October 5 which will include religious award registration and religious recognition counselor training. Interested adults should confirm attendance by emailing girlscouts@ arch-no.org or calling Cecilia Matherne in the CYO/Youth & Young Adult Ministry office at 504-227-3221. Questions may be directed to John Smestad, Jr., CYO Director, at 504-227-3223 (direct line.)
