President's Letter

Dear members and friends:

August has certainly turned out to be an exciting month. We began with a fun-filled tour of the North End hosted by our good friend Marian owner of Shake the Tree. Marian enlisted her friends at Cocoanuts Boston, Ensemble and Salmagundi for a fun shopping experience. There were opportunities to try on jewelry, hats, clothing and more as well as enjoy a complimentary chair massage. Our concierge evening ended with raffle prizes and delicious food at the new sushi/cocktail bar Crudo located on Salem Street. Thank you so much Marian for making this event so delightful for attendees!

On August 4th, our concierge members were treated to a fabulous "Shops at the Prudential Concierge Barbecue" hosted by our friends at the Prudential and Where Boston Magazine. There was delicious food provided by restaurants throughout the Pru as well as a scavenger hunt, raffle prizes and an amazing desert reception hosted by the Top of the Hub in the stellar Skywalk Observatory. A special thank you goes out to all the folks at the Shops at Prudential Center, Where Boston Magazine and Top of the Hub/Prudential Skywalk for making the evening such a perfect one! This annual concierge event should never be missed!

Our awesome August GBCA all-members meeting was held in Salem this year. I want to thank Kate Fox, Stacie Cooper and Jennifer Close for hosting our meeting --- Also, a big GBCA thank you goes out to Jeanne Sullivan, of Boston Harbor Cruises and Bob Levine of Dave El/Boston Coach for providing transportation to our members. It may have been stormy outside, but our group didn't notice as they toured the incredible Peabody Essex Museum and visited their new exhibit the American Epics Thomas Hart Benton and Hollywood. Thank you to all members for attending and especially our contributors and hosts. Check out our meeting notes to learn more about this special day in Salem.

Once again, this year our good friends Bob Schwartz of Boston Duck Tours and Della Grallert of the New England Aquarium, Jeanne Sullivan of Boston Harbor Cruises and Ed Hurley of Faneuil Hall Marketplace hosted a fun-filled GBCA Concierge Family Day. Members and their families enjoyed a Duck Tour, a tour of the Aquarium with its new exhibit Turtles, lunch at Quincy Market and a three hour BHC Whale Watch tour. The day was spectacular with so many concierges most appreciative about sharing what they recommend to guest every day to their families too. See all the photos of these great events and be sure to send along your thank you notes to our hosts.

Just a few days away is our September GBCA meeting.  Members please be sure to RSVP as soon as possible, as you don't want to miss out on this special evening that Joe Donlavey has planned for us all at the Citi Performing Arts Center.

With pride in service;

You're President
Betty Salemme

Dear Concierge Friends,

It's here!!!

A new bus service called

"Passage to Plymouth"

Plymouth & Brockton announces a dedicated bus service to Plymouth waterfront.  The bus departs the transportation building on the Charles St. side at 9:10am, 7 days a week.  This service now brings your guests directly to the beautiful Plymouth waterfront, by the visitors center and departs from there at 3:10pm for the return trip back to Boston.

While your guests are visiting "Americas Hometown" they can take in all the rich history Plymouth has to offer.  Hop on "Americas Hometown Shuttle" trolley and take in a sightseeing tour. Visit the Plymouth Plantation.  Enjoy some great "by the sea" gift shops.  And of course have lunch at one of the many restaurants, maybe even a "lobsta" roll!

A rep from Plymouth & Brockton Transportation will be dropping by hotels to share info. and present comp tickets to our concierge.

Feel free to call Plymouth & Brockton art 508-732-6026 and ask for Denise, or visit www.p-b.com for more info.
