President's Letter

Dear members and friends:

This has certainly been an exciting summer. The GBCA has been very busy (and lucky!) to be invited to so many exciting meetings and events!

A great big thank you to Della Grallert of the New England Aquarium for hosting an incredible all members meeting on June 29, 2015. There were more than seventy members in attendance to enjoy the new Turtle Exhibit and more. We were thrilled to have some terrific guest speakers sharing what they do and offering information on the best Boston has to offer to all its visitors and guests. Thank you everyone that participated in making the evening such a great accomplishment.

Also a big thank you to Joe Donlavey of the City Performance Center for spearheading the generous invite to see Newsees with tickets donated to our concierges by Ann Sheehan and the folks at Broadway In Boston. Congratulations to all our concierges who were able to experience this electrifying show first hand.

Our Morton's July 6, 2015 Patio Party was another great opportunity to share information about what makes Boston the best city in the world. We had several informative guest speakers sharing what they do and inviting our members to experience their services first hand. There were also many generous raffle prizes and giveaways donated by our speakers. All this along with the delicious cuisine that Morton's is so well known for! A special thank you to Dina Trueheart, Sales & Event Manager for organizing this special occasion. A big GBCA thank you also to Alissa Parziale Sales Assistant and Reservationist for making the night such a special one!

Don't forget we have plenty more exiting events planned for you this summer. Our all members August meeting will take place on August 11, 2015. Be sure to RSVP for a leisurely cruise aboard the BHC Salem Ferry where we will be met by our friends at the Salem Trolley and whisked away to the famous Peabody Essex Museum. This event is sure to bring lots of fun and exciting news from our good friends at Destination Salem. So don't miss out and RSVP today. I look forward to seeing you all soon.

With Pride in Service;

Betty Salemme

GBCA President

The recent opening of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the US Senate now completes the tourism triangle on Columbia Point.  The JFK Presidential Library and Museum, the EMK Institute and the Commonwealth Museum share not only geographic proximity, but each offer irreplaceable encounters with American history and democracy, and history's relevancy to today's issues. Together they span three centuries from an original copy of the Declaration of Independence and the Massachusetts Bill of Rights which was the basis of the U.S. Bill of Rights, to a Museum focusing on JFK's thousand days in office and his great accomplishments in that short time, to simulations of debates in a recreated Senate Chamber and an opportunity to become "Senators-in-Training" as Visitors grapple with one of the big issues Senators themselves are tackling today.
