Dear members and friends:
I hope all of you are enjoying the beginning of summer as much as I am. The weather has been incredible with visitors and guests flocking to our city to enjoy all the best Boston has to offer! And who better than you, our members of the GBCA to be the ambassadors for the city to share their experiences with them and show first hand why "Boston is the best city in the world!!"
I want to thank all of you who took advantage of the exciting events that were offered to you this month. From the incredible historic Salem Hospitality Day to this week's all member trip to Freeport Maine aboard Amtrak's Downeaster train we had the opportunity to learn more and more about our fine city and beyond.
A big thank you to Boston Harbor Cruises, Alison Nolan and her incredible team including Gina Cameron our GBCA affiliate member for hosting this month's all member meeting aboard the Majesty. The Majesty has so much to offer, it's large, roomy and elegant. It can be used for meetings of any size, cocktail or dinner receptions, showers, parties and even weddings. That's exactly what Billy Joel and Christy Brinkley did when they were married in New York on March 23, 1985. We were also treated to a lovely reception on the patio of The Landing on Long Wharf. Read more about our monthly meeting in the notes from our secretary Bonnie O'Hare.
Our concierge Freedom Trail Tour and North End Experience was also a huge success with so many concierges joining us. I had always given out the maps and information and had been telling my guests you may walk it on your own with our guide book or you can join a tour from the Freedom Trail Foundation located at the Visitors Center on the Boston Common. Well now that I have experienced the guided tour first hand I know that's the way to go. You learn so much more about Boston's history and the American Revolution when you walk the Freedom Trail with an experienced costumed guide in character. These folks do not just talk about the American Revolution they practically live it. This is time well spent that you will want to share with your guests time and time again. Thank you to Suzanne Taylor of The Freedom Trail Foundation for making this tour available to our concierge members. The second half of our night was the North End Experience with Shake the Tree owner Marian Klausner. Concierges were treated to shopping, great food and a chair massage. There were also great prizes and gifts. The evening ended at a great bar and restaurant in the North End, Goody Glovers. Wow, so much fun while learning our craft.
In the month of July, we will be holding an all member patio party at Battery Park located in the Financial District and an all member night at the Franklin Park Zoo. We are actively seeking transportation to and from Boston for this event. If you would like to assist us, please reach out to me at betty.salemme@seaportboston.com invitation will be sent to all members shortly.
Please again do not share or forward your invitations to others. This has been a most recent issue and we need to end this right now. Our hosts are very generous and we must be respectful of their generosity.
Please take the time to read all of our newsletter and see what wonderful opportunities that are offered to our members.
With pride in service,
Betty Salemme
GBCA President
