Dear members and friends:
May certainly turned out to be a very busy month with so many graduations, celebrations and events. Our members were also busy welcoming so many visitors and guests to our fine city. If the month of May is any indication of what the summer will bring, all of our businesses will be very active with the hundreds of thousands of visitors that will embark on Boston and beyond. That is why, now more than ever it's important for us in the hospitality community to work together, share our knowledge and continue the camaraderie and support we've established.
I want to thank all of you for attending the very successful May all-member meeting at the Palm Restaurant on May 27, 2014. After a long absence in our city, it's great to have the Palm Restaurant back in Boston. And ever more exciting to have General Manager; Brian Brosnihan at the helm. Brian is an incredible ambassador to both the Palm Restaurant and Boston. Brian's contribution and support to the hospitality industry are well documented and his talents as general manager are well known in our community. Thank you to Brian Bosnihan and Sales Manager Lauren Falardeau for making our meeting a huge success, one that will be talked about for a very long time.
Also thank you to our incredibly experienced guest speakers; Stephany Stephens, Rowena Dunn and Alyson Link from Cirque du soleil who extended an invitation to all GBCA concierges to enjoy the opening night performance of Amuluna. Remember to visit sirquedusoleil.com/Amaluna and use the promo code CONCIERGE to redeem a $10 special saving offer on tickets.
Thank you to the man who does it all at the Regent Theater in Arlington, Leland Stein. This month, Leland hosted all GBCA members to the Regent Theater for a performance of 'MY SON THE WAITER' a fun filled one man show starring Brad Zimmerman. It was wonderful to see so many of you attend and support this incredible theater.
Molly Tarpey, Group Sales Manager for Body World was on hand to share with us the exciting phenomenon "Body World" at Quincy Market. Body World has been extended through the summer. Molly passed out information packets and complimentary tickets to all of our members, so that everyone could have the opportunity to experience Body World first hand and share their experience with their guests.
We had a little bit of comings and goings on our board of directors team with the announcement that Meg Worth our Affiliate Representative and the person most responsible for this year incredible GBCA Hospitality Trade Show would be relocating to Michigan. The board has asked former Affiliate Representative and longtime GBCA supporter Julie Doherty Pagano to join the 2014 board of directors to continue Meg's work. Thank you to both Meg and Julie for the support; we believe with your help this transition will be seamless.Thank you again to two special ladies who work diligently for the betterment of our organization. Meg promises to keep in touch with us and we welcome her to join us again when she is back in the Boston area. Thank you Julie, for accepting the position, all of us here at the GBCA are excited to be working closely with you again.
Please take the time to read the minutes from our meeting to learn more about what was shared with our members. The contacts and relationships we make at our GBCA meetings are the tools we need to better serve our guests. Every month we try and give you exciting venues and informative guest speakers. If there is a speaker or a location that you would like to learn more about, please feel free to reach out to me at betty.salemme@seaportboston.com I am happy to reach out and try and make that happen. If there is information you would like to share with our members, the GBCA newsletter is a great opportunity. Evan does an amazing job of pulling it all together. So please reach out to any member of the board if we can be of assistance. You may reach the board of directors at gbca@hotmail.com.
