The 24th San José Mariachi & Folklórico Festival: coming soon!
July 25-30 events feature a Mariachi Mass, a free family concert, and music & dance workshops
Estimados,
July is here, and we hope you're enjoying this gorgeous sunny weather! July also means that the 24th San José Mariachi & Folklórico Festival is just weeks away.
There's still time: to mark your calendars for all the great events, and to register for our music and folklórico dance workshops. Read on for details.
A Mariachi Mass and a free family concert
Two beautiful venues will host our music events that bookend the festival. First, there's a Mariachi Mass at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 25, in the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph at 80 S. Market St. in downtown San José. Mariachi Perla de José Leon will play the Mass.
MHC and the San Jose Mariachi & Folklórico Festival are grateful for the assistance of staff and volunteers from the Cathedral in the loving preparation for this event. Cathedral volunteers invite you to join them in the church hall after the service for their brunch fundraiser with special guests Tezkatlipoka Aztec Dance & Drum.
Then, at 7 p.m. on July 30, the "Alma, Corazón y Vida" Concert will take place at San Jose State University in front of the Morris Dailey Auditorium. The family concert will feature Mariachi Azteca de Pato Diaz and the work of local mariachi and folklórico companies, and showcase SJMFF 2015 workshop students.
Attention Group Directors! There are still a few positions open and we'd love to add you to the growing roster. Please write to MLColmenarez@mhcviva.org, as soon as possible, to request the Family Concert Guidelines and Application. We look forward to your claiming one of those spots and giving SJMFF 2015 the opportunity to promote your collaboration via social media.
