Securing the Next $25 Million
| |
Dear Contact First Name:
Last week, a long-term effort to secure an additional $25 million for the state Trust Fund finally paid off. But unless we begin advocating for a renewal of this funding now, next year's first round trust fund distribution percentage will likely be well under 30%.
Below are five simple things that we hope CPA advocates across the state will do right now, to help jumpstart the statewide campaign to secure another $25 million for CPA.
FIVE STEPS TO HELP SUSTAIN CPA
1. Show the impact to your town. Get on the agenda for an upcoming Selectmen or City Council meeting to share the good news of this year's very high CPA trust fund distribution. These meetings are often televised and covered by the press, so they are a great place to announce the good news.
2.Thank your state legislators. Let your State Representative and State Senator know how much extra your community gained from the additional $25 million, and thank them for passing the legislation that made it possible. Start by finding your local legislator's contact information here. If you want to share how much additional funding your town received,
4. Get the word out. Contact your local newspaper and other media outlets to announce the CPA Trust Fund distribution, and post the information on your website. A letter to the editor would also work. Let us know if you need help with a sample press release.
5. Stay tuned. Like last time, we'll need your help as our legislative campaign to renew the $25 million gets underway this winter. Watch for email updates from the Coalition.
